killing time today...

i have a bunch of frames, mats and prints...all in different sizes that don't necessarily fit/match each other.
so, i am taking the mats and cropping some of the prints with it and then framing them.

interesting results and not really dreadful...

You'll have a novel response to the next "Do you crop...?" thread. "Yes, I crop to whatever mats I happen to have around."

I like it Joe. I used to work in picture framing and we never wasted anything. The bits cut out of the center were in turn bevel cut and used for smaller pictures until nothing but trimmings were left ! happy days ;-)

Have you tried cutting your own Joe? I found a Logan mat cutter fairly easy to use.. the decision was forced on me due to the high price of custom mat cutting over here.

i ended up with 11 newly framed prints...six 8x10 and five 5x7 prints in all.

i have a few 8x16 prints that will live in a plastic envelope until i get some mats cut or buy myself a mat cutter...

it would be easier if i just shot/printed my images to a standard size...

now i just need to find some wall space...or build another wall perhaps 😉

usually what i do is take down what's already hanging, re-hang the new stuff and put the older frames against the wall, on the floor...

lucky find!
while cutting through walmart to avoid the rain...i stopped to look at their frames and found ones that hold a 8x16 print perfectly!!
more expensive than my usual ikea cheapies but what the heck!
