I'm in Vancouver. I don't have any space for you to stay, but I can recommend a few places to go check out.
I'm in Langley, about 35 miles east of Vancouver, so I'm not as familiar with the city as others may be but I can still suggest many possibilities if you don't get good ideas from the "city-dwellers". You've got lots of time to plan so we can keep in touch between now and then. One thing I could offer is a day-trip up the Fraser Canyon--a couple hundred miles to the east--to see some of the "rest" of our lovely province. I'm an avid railfan and there's no better place to watch and photograph trains than up through the Canyon--we might even get you hooked on the game yourself.
In any case, there are a number of us on here from the area and I'm sure we'll be able to book you for far more activities than you'll have time for. And September is a wonderful time to visit--the weather is normally good, the bugs are gone and so are the majority of the tourists. The only thing you won't get to see is our famous rain...
Simon, No fear - there will be plenty of film available. I think my stock of Arista/Trix in either "regular" cassettes or IXMOO's is in the neighborhood of 1000 -1200 rolls - and even I would be hard pressed to finish that by September (and Freestyle can ship overnight if needed).
Simon, i am working on being there for that time and if i can make it i will arrange to put you up for the time. a German home no less!
we can head up to the Deutsche Haus up on 31st and Victoria for a pint or two if you feel up to it.
well, the Cambie is really the spot for pints in my books. cheap as chips, bit dodgy and full of crazy folk. if you are really brave we can make a trip to the Ivanhoe... ah, memories.
the "ho" as it is called is a dive bar on the edge of china town.
it is a mix of cheap, foul liquor, cats fresh out of jail and all the rat poor artists who can't afford to drink anywhere else. makes for good times.
