Have you noticed that this Rumors thing seems to have taken over the whole photog world? Well at least, I have been sucked into its vortex. I am really sick of it and vow to stop buying in. Also with all the really cool intros going on GAS has become a joke. Digital products seem to have a shelf life of about 6 months or so. Hey....where is my M3? Just ranting.😀

Get your M3, Akiva, and enjoy what you seem to be enjoying in photography. The marketing based rumors articles are for the people who are looking for new equipment. Digital equipment in photography is similar to computers; things change at a rapid rate.

Discussions about rumors are interesting to see what other photographers think about this and that feature or gizmo.
It does get tiresome when the comments turn smarta$$ and personal.

Much better are the threads about actual usage after the real product hits the streets.

I follow these rumors from afar. I'm happy with my current film/digital systems and see no reason to jettison anything just so I can have the newest, shiny toy. Sunday evening I pulled out my 42 year old Canon F-1 and took a bunch of B&W night shots of a model I know. Great fun, and the results look pretty good too.

The RFF name to this forum is historical and related to the business of its owner.
New threads often have no relation to RF photography at all.
Recommendations not to read it are understandable, but it is getting difficult sometimes here to sort it out.
Will be nice to have RF only forum view.

I can understand that point of view. However, let's remember that the new owner sells products for use on DSLRs and Mirrorless Cameras. Additionally, there are not too many new announcements regarding new rangefinders... so a lot has already been said about many rangefinder cameras on the forum.

The arrival of mirrorless cameras seemed to intrigue many RF owners as an alternative to expensive digital RFs and to bulky DSLRs. They also allowed the use of legacy lenses.

What you could do is only visit the forum sections you like if the front page annoys you.

Everytime a rumor comes out everyone gets all giddy & excited. I just laugh at their post because I have learned that all their excitement will mainly turn into bashing the product once it's leaked our comes out.😉

Maybe it's time for Stephen to change the name. KoFe is right. I still like it here over anywhere else on the www but so much, especially about RF camera's has changed. This site has morphed away from why most of us came here in the first place. I bought my Bessa R & my 35/2.5 skopar from Stephen & the last time I looked, his primary business is still in selling RF gear.

This site is still a great place to get information about RFs and to talk about RFs. You just have to go to the proper forum section and stay away from the general front page that shows the newest threads.

Does the name matter that much? If the topics aren't of your interests, you can create ones that are. 🙂

no one thread is required reading here…don't like rumours? don't read about them! pretty simple really…

rff is still the #1 place to read up on rangefinders…it's just that rangefinders aren't the #1 topic of interest any longer.

I solved my digital GAS (hot GAS for the new Sony A7r) immediately by buying an MP and 25 rolls of colour negative. It's the start of a beautiful friendship 😀

I agree .
The forum no longer seems to have a distinctive voice ... which is a shame.
As Joe suggests rangefinders don`t seem to generate the interest these days.

Much agree with what you say. just ranting! don't really want to see a name change. It's the name that draws in enthusiast about RF camera's.😉 While ago I was looking thru the W/NW thread Signage started way back in 2008. Interesting to see that lot's of the photos back then was taken by some who use to shoot film & most likely were taken with an RF camera. I'm not complaining, like Joe said, Rf's are no longer the #1 topic, but it's good that we can go back & dig up those old threads. 🙂

Rumors I can live with, and to an extent, I like to follow, but the hype has been cranked to 11 in the past few years. The X-Pro is the only camera that was heavily hyped and delivered something somewhat equal to what was promised, but stuff like the Mini M and the recent "pure photography" BS have are simply ridiculous.

What's aggravating is that the promise or concept that's hyped resonates with many people...so why not truly deliver on it?

If you check prices and actual bids on e-bay for RFs and similar gear the conclusion about less interest in RFs seems to be far from to be correct.

To me it seems RFF has become place of interest for mirror-less and other non-DSLR users.
The size and aviability to use RF lenses seems to be the factors of common.

Maybe we need to have a split home page tree.. The default if what u still c today and two options
- analog cameras
- digital cameras
The common sections like word/no word, etc can be part of both. Hopefully not to hard for the forum sw can handle..

Personally I like it the way it is.. I use both types of camera systems.

I am one of the guilty in terms of posting rumors.. Mainly because I am a gear head and it generates interesting discussions about what the members are most interested in...

Anyway I will cut down my rumor postings...
