As the second user of the FED-2 circling the world (see the "Pass the RF - Part 3" thread) I was really impressed by this little Soviet RF and I promised myself one. Well just an hour ago I bought a Zorki-4, first model with the frames around the windows and the engraved logo, and an Industar 50 f/2. The camera looks pretty and the seller says everything works fine. I'm thrilled as a child on X-mas eve, can't wait till it's here. I hope by the end of the week. And, I'm still checking out offers for a Fed-2...😀 😀

Swore i'd never buy a Zorki 4 , 'cos I had one in the 70's, now one is on it's way - near mint with brown snake covering...
Like you . I can't wait , yet I have many other little ''reds '' !

Huubl,
Now you've got some serious shootin' iron!😀
And don't worry about the sound of a roller-coaster starting up that you might be hearing; it's perfectly normal.
I just looked at your "classic camera" slide show at Flickr and am wondering: What is the side grip you've got on the Canon P?
Rob

Thanks Rob. It's the M-grip by GMP. A generic grip, all aluminum, made to fit the Leica Ms. It fits the P nicely too, as you can see, and it definitely improves the grip. They can be had on the bay for prices around 50 US$ if you're lucky.

Zorki-4?! That means a FED-2 is going to join it soon. And then a Kiev 4. And FED-5, just for fun sake. And then... oh boy! 🙂

Hmmmm. A distinct smell of GAS around here. I too started with a Zorki 4K just 16 months ago. It now has the company of Zorkis 1, 2S, 5(x2), and 6, FEDs 1 (NKVD), 2(x3), 3(x3), and 5. Kievs 4, 4A(x3), and 19, Zenits 3, EM, and 122, a Moskva-5, and a Horizon S3 Pro. BTW, it is more likely that your 50/2 will be a Jupiter-8 if it is the original lens for that body. Good luck with your GAS control, it obviously hasn't worked for me. Enjoy your Zorki 4.....and all its later stablemates.

It arrived and it's awesome. The chrome is beautiful, the script handsome, and the vulcanite is perfect. The shutter sounds determined, the selftimer works perfectly and film winding and rewinding goes smoothly. I'm impressed by the heft and ruggidness! The accompanying J8 has perfect glass and diaphragm blades without oil. Only the aluminum barrel is a little blemished/oxidized. I'll put a film in after finishing fondling tonight. This camera oozes class and quality! I'll show her here soon!

You will love it! Tho' I don't own one personally, Ruben's Fed-2 just arrived,
and I had it in my hands yesterday. Tho' I tend to like Jupiters, I've heard
good things about the Industar glass, as well.

Enjoy!
