I can't believe my intention is to let my Contax T3 go. I swore I would always keep it.

Things change...since I got my X100, I've put exactly ONE roll of film through the T3, and the roll has been sitting on my desk for several weeks.

My intention is to use the proceeds to fund a 17-40L lens for my 5Dmk2. I've been using that more lately, and I'm reminded of why I got it...terrific files and handling, and plenty of speed for me.
 
Its about a year since I shot any film and I have about 9 rolls still to be developed. I too use an X100 and a 5D MkII and have recently bought an R-D1, so I do understand. BTW the 17-40 is very nice on the 5D - not too heavy - and good results.
 
Sold the screwmount Hexanon 35/2.0 I swore I would keep forever but it had to go to help cover for a REALLY nice Summilux 35/1.4...

Justified though, that oath was only binding for as long as I did not think I would ever be able to afford the Summilux, and that changed...

Still shooting film though! :p
 
Similar path here. Though my journey will see me downsize the digital (mu43/PL lenses kit to compact - probably Fuji X10) proceeds to upgrade to Leica M6 (or M2 with CV VCII meter) and whatever 'starter' lens the 'change' buys.

But since we're talking about the gear that we'll not sell. As of late April 2012 I vow to hold onto the Fuji Klasse S. Let's just see how true I am to my word. :eek:
 
I've taken to using pocketable 35mm a lot more lately - no knock on digital, but the GRD IV is the only camera that comes close to the mju II/etc. in being able cargo-pocketable and ready to shoot.
 
Kodak's latest quarterly figures ... down another twenty seven percent! :eek:

Help them out please ... keep the camera. :D

Just a thought,

I think many of us do the same with new purchases. I mean you just got it and are spending time with it "now", but there is a reason why you didnt sell off the 5D MKII = It must have its place with your photography.

If you had to post = you must want "feedback" ;) and if you have any thoughts that you might another Contax T3 in the future, I'd keep it :)

I think the Contax T3 is a wonderful P&S camera with a great lens. I would for sure regret selling it if it was my flavor, especially if its my last film camera. I'd probably only sell it to buy a Hexar AF :D, but thats just me

Well, David - that is the ONE camera I would never sell. But you know that. Do not do it. There will be time and space for more using more film. My TVS III laid around unused for two years. Now the T3 is a solid part of my frequently-in-use photo gear.

Even when its only 2 or 5 rolls occassionally...put a yellow filter on and throw in some B/W film or simply one of the remaining Kodak Chrome Elite (that film seems like it was made for that camera). Just for the "WOW" that you may find yourself missing a little down the road. Is that not why we shoot photos for in the end?
 
Just make sure that you get a good price for it, since you will buy another one in six months time :)

If you ever feel the need to use the words "film" and "pocket size" in the same sentence, just hang on to it.

...I had thinking of my hexar af and fuji x100.
But I'm happy because I let it go to one of my best friends.
And he is happy too now:)
 
I haven't shot much/any film for about 6 months now. But I know I have gone through these bouts before, and so I will keep my film cameras. They will be back (although upon reading Keith's remark a few posts up, I may be putting Ilford or Efke film in them!)
 
Whenever I declare myself as "finally having arrived" and swear that I "will never sell anything again", my photo buddies just laugh nowadays... :rolleyes:
 
When I shoot it tends to be exclusively digital or film, I have found, with the other gathering dust for a long time. At the moment, it is my film gear lying idls for the last 15 months, and before that it was my digital gear for probably 18 months. During both periods, I rationalised the kit I wasn't using, which has been a mixed bag. Some things I do not miss, other things I sorely regret. For example, I am currently putting back together much of my dslr kit, replacing things I had previously sold.

Ultimately though, I love film for the shooting experience, and digital for the results. With digital now starting offering to offer something in the way of the shooting experience I get from my film M's, to be honest I wonder if I will shoot film again.

That said, I still can't bear the thought of selling my M3 :)

Wait!! The 17-40L lens is great on APS-C sensors, but on full-frame the corners suffer from awful chromatic aberration and softness. You can correct the CA with ACR (their profiles are very very good for current modern lenses), even the distortion, but I just thought you should know ahead of time before you get a bit of a disappointing surprise.

Once the EMF pulses subside, we'll be digging through the rubble for all those film camera's we said we "would never sell". Then we'll be remembering the one reason we forgot about WHY!!!!!

Okay, okay,

I pride myself on NOT being wishy-washy, but after some intense soul-searching, I'm going to keep the T3.

I'll keep using the primes on my mark II.

In fact, I think I'll shoot some film with the T3 this weekend.

Thanks for opinions everyone...especially those T3 owners who KNOW selling would be a bad idea!
