I plan on getting the XF 23mm lens when it's released, but I feel like it'll be forever before it's actually accessible. What's the best (preferably fastest) 23/24mm lens option currently available for the X mount?
I don't care if it's a RF or SLR lens, as long as I can adapt it.
Any help would be awesome.

Fastest is the Leica 24f1.4 also the most expensive.

Personally I would say if this is a stop gap until the 23 Fuji ships, why not
- cv 25f4 - probably best price performer
- Leica 24f2.8 much more expensive then the cv
- Zeiss version
- any number of slr lenses from Nikon, Konica, or canon 24f2.8 such as the Nikon ais version

I currently still use my x100 for this purpose. A used x100 btw is cheaper than any used Leica or Zeiss glass. There are rff members who are using the cv 25f4 both the ltm and m mount versions.

An advantage of the x100 over the xp1 leaf shutter --> QUIET... Plus flash synch at all shutter speeds. Even when the 23f1.4 is shipped, I plan to keep the x100..

The 24/2.8 Nikkor AIS is relatively inexpensive and works well (it does flare easily though). But maybe this is too slow for you.

I can deal with f2.8, but I would really love f2 or faster. I've read that the CV 28/2 isn't any good with the X-Pro1, and I really would prefer something in the 24mm range, or wider. I'll look into the Zuiko.

I'm just too much in love with the XF18/2 to get round to testing M-lenses on th X-E1. But I could make an effort with my VC 28/1.9

Do you have an M to XF adapter already? I'd love to find out how it works.
I've heard the 28/2 is pretty bad on the XP-1, but maybe the performs better somehow. I most just need something for candid portraits and low-light event coverage.

U decide for yourself

U decide for yourself

Xp1 Fuji m adapter Voitlander 28f1.9 @f2.0 - forgot what I have set for the lens correction. But u decide if u like it. Has a bit of focus shift. Lens good by f2.8 if I remember correctly. Best between f4 to f5.6. Shot this at f2.0 since u said u wanted it for low light events.

I would use the Fuji 35f1.4 or 18f2.0 if it was me. If light gets too low for af switch to manual focus.

Went thru my normal aperture default script. This is jpg from camera not RPP converted raw to tiff 16.

Yepp, I bought the adapter straight away, no pussyfooting around here. 😉

The adapter is just that really. And it works. The only added benefit of the Fuji adapter is that you can configure lens correction parameters for each lens, distortion, colour correction, aberrations etc. And that is not such a bad thing. I´m still getting to grips with what needs correcting, but there are indeed visible differences between lenses, the characteristics do show up, the VC 50/2.5 is much contrastier than the Fuji XF18/2 for example. All this can be corrected in post processing of course, but if you need clean JPEGs out of the camera with no fuss, the lens corrective qualities of the adapter may be a good idea.

Will post a few shots from the VC 28/f1.9 shortly

These are not shot under the best of conditions. Hand held, 1/30s, ISO´s 200-640, all at f4. But none the less it would seem that the VC 28/f1.9 is outperformed by the XF18/2. Sharpness is less spectacular, even in the centre where I have nailed it on a couple of these (rebar and crane pictures). There is some chromatic aberration too. I need to test more, but initially it would seem the VC is better suited for my M4-2, where I think it´s a corker. The latter may be because I use it for B+W only.

If you follow the linked images you´ll be able to view bigger versions.
