So the summitar is well known for flaring, but has anyone seen anything like this? The people at the photolab I've been printing at were all captivated by it. Now to learn how to recreate it.

Unfortunately my scanner cropped too much on the left. I'll probably just scan the print I made.

Very cool ... as Roland said it looks like the source is the two light points lower right.

I had something similar happen with my Electro though it wasn't as pronounced.

And the Canon 50/1.2 can do that too. :)

You guys can expect a visit from the serious folks from area 51--or at the very least--the people that wear tin hats with propellers attached...:)

I live in Area 52, right next door to Area 51, and have never seen these before. I suspect lens flare; at least, that's the "official story" in case anyone asks.

no filter and no hood. 4 second exposure. Although I've gotten some cool flares with filters as well. This one is with the barndoor hood and a red filter.

I'm finding with the summitar it's sometimes a pain with how much it flares, and it really surprises me as sometimes at times you wouldn't expect it. But accidents like this make it worth it.
