Yesterday, I went almost every single store on Kowloon, could not locate a new R-D1s.

They are totally gone.

Time for a new model perhaps?

Just want to let people know, here in Hong Kong, I could not find one anymore.

Perhaps need to try to 2nd hand store.

I just got a used one from a local Hong Kong user. He said you may be able to find some new and used ones over Japan e.g. Mapcamera.

Hong Kong vendors don't seem to want to spend a lot of time hanging on to old technology when it comes to electronic devices.

There's the Leica shop on Stanley Street in Central. And there are several camera and film shops on Stanley Street. One carried some Voigtlander gear. In Lan Kwai Fong, there was a camera store that dealt in both new and used gear, including Cosina Voigtlander. It was on the second floor, if I recall.

I'll say it's partly true; yes, HK vendors (and customers) always chase the newest stuff and no, the shop you mentioned is on the 4th floor but personally I won't buy my stuff there as the keeper is a heavy smoker and the store is kind of smelly.

Anyway, I have checked Stanley Street and can't find any RD1/Rd1s. I guess another route is to check the local forums and see if there is any used one for sale.

When I purchased mine 3 months ago, I search all over Hong Kong, Taipei, and Malaysia..ended up I got one in Shanghai and the same store is headquartered in Guangzhou which has lots of stock at rmb16,500 (2000usd)! Mine is RD-1, R-d1as is 1000rmb more: www.cokin.com.cn

cheers,

HH.

I've searched all over Hong Kong for an RD-1, and it's nice to know they exist.

16k+ is way out of my range though. Back to waiting, I guess.
