hey Simon is that the book you made with the Blurb credit or did they compile the finalists into a book ?
I didn't hear about it last year and I did enter this year, mostly because I had nothing to lose (copyright etc) rather than because I thought I had a chance :D

that is the catalogue for both awards (international and student) the LSPF team published via blurb. they were kind enough to send me two copies, one of which now resides at tuulikki and tom abrahamsson's place in vancouver.

I've never entered any photo contest ever. Though I have been giving it some consideration. They always sneak up on me though. "LAST FOR ENTRIES ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT!" That's nowhere near enough time to figure out what I'd want to put in. And a bunch of them charge to enter. Which makes the decision process even more time consuming.

they do charge you for this one, but you get a blurb credit for almost the same amount in return, so it's not that bad.

No never heard of those either. I'm not too big on contests either, but like I said for this one 30GBP is frankly not too expensive, besides you retain copyright and everything. I've seen other contest rules where you have to grant the organizing committee full license for everything, no thanks

yeh, that's just awful.

Has anyone ever entered the Black and White Spider awards? Anyone know anything about them?

never heard of it.
