Retina in one hand, Koni-Omega in the other...fumbling for my car keys...Koni takes a 3ft drop to the pavement!
The handle broke, but that looks to be the only damage. Good thing she started out so ugly. No one will even notice new battle scars.
I do want a new handle though. The search begins.
Actually, it's a good thing I did not drop the Retina. That was my Father-in-law's camera. My wife would skin me!

I should have checked for damage, but I wanted to get out of there before the shopping center sued me!

Ouch...Sorry, Steve.
To make you feel better, I dropped my M6 a couple of times. Once by my cat at night. Still works though.

By the cat? At least it wasn't on the cat. Poor thing probably wouldn't have made it...

I just ordered a wrist strap for the Retina. I've got my priorities.

I thought I felt a tremor here on the East coast...Good thing you did not hit your foot with it. I think the Koni might require 2 neckstraps to take the strain.

Favor not one child over another, nor should you rely upon a mere wrist strap, which could indeed be nothing more, brother, that a slip strap.
Pray tell, that the only strap that can protect your precious gear from all harm is a neck strap. [Unless, of course, you do a stupido move like I did and "swing" your neck which, pendulums be pendulums, amplifies the swing of the camera into the door jamb!]

You guys are funny....
Two people were getting out of a car just down from where I dropped her. They heard the "Awwwww @##$!" and hurried around to see if I'd fallen and couldn't get up.
Nice folks. I embarassed myself.

Once you manage to destroy your Koni, contact me so that you can buy from me my Koni for your next destruction project

Now that I own a Retina IIa - I think that it too may cause a tremor if dropped.
I think the frame is steel, with lots of brass bits attached to it. It's heavier than my Yashicas. Yet it's nearly half the size. It's solid.

We're all light!
This is what "keyless entry" was invented to help prevent.
Hope you find a replacement handle without too much trouble.

Contact Greg Weber; he should have replacements.
My own Rapid Omega 100 arrived totally trashed from the mail, including the handle in a million pieces. Greg replaced it and fixed up the rest of the camera.

Crapola, I flipped TWO cameras out of my backpack when I grabbed it out of the back of a friends car the other day. Both crashed into the asphalt.
Result:
Minolta A-1 Digicam is now on its way to toast - it landed on a corner at the base. The lens is out of alignment (vignetting) and it starts up with a violent shaking of the "anti-shake" motor, then settles down. Probably a $100-$150 fix, if it's even fixable...
Agfa Isolette III ALSO landed on the corner at the base! It broke up the asphalt, sending a shower of asphalt shrapnel in every direction (not really...). There is a dent in the corner now. Camera works perfectly in every way....no damage internally at all! Might have to get a hammer and work on the little dent...haha!
I got in too much of a hurry, and paid the price.
