I eventually did trade up M9 -> M10R

as someone of you knows, my M9 suffered about sensor corrosion, I made it fix by maxmax and another problem came out, an exposure misalignement between right and left side of the sensor.
So the great Sonnar Brian developed for me a fortran script to adjust the misalignement, but the sensor started to get worst...

so eventually I decided to accept the trade-up proposed by leica and now I have a brand new (oversized for me) M10R!

I must say it is a really big step over m9...

silent shutter, ergonomics, fast operativity, iso dial...
I'm still getting used to it, personalizing the menues and the functionality ( I set the camera to get the most similar feeling I have with my analogue Ms), but I already can realize it is a beautiful camera...

Sad to hear about your M9 experience, but glad things seem to be working out for you. The M10 series has a lot of desirable features in terms of weatherproofing, quiet shutter, and lowlight capabilities.

The reason why many of us skipped the M240.

I love it, maybe little bit too saturated on red, still working for a standard preset to apply in lightroom

(those are all a bit desaturated, except for the one with many lamps; it was already good for my tastes)

The M9 was dependent on sensors from the 'dawn of digital'. Much time has passed, lessons learned and enough monies lost replacing the entire defective line that those errors won't be repeated.

I have an M8.2 and an M9 and will be happy when the have run their productive course. I will try to keep them working as long as is practicable. Then on to the M240's I have. They are close to the CCD quality but not quite there. I will have to learn to possibly tweak the CMOS in post to look like CCD. But losing the M9 would be like losing an old friend. Quirky and sometimes troublesome but always a good friend and one who would be missed.

about the question I read on other threads concerning blurred shots due to the hi-pixel count of m10-r: I think it's not a problem, I don't see so much differences from my m9 pics and I don't see differences at all on prints

I'd be curious to know for which period Leica is committed to repairing the M10 cameras.

From collective experience by now it is clear what despite LCag service been not up to date compared canikon, we know they are willing to take in even old M8.

So, they will repair as long as components are available.
Which is getting less and less support time span.

the liveview is very odd without a tilt lcd screen
I eliminated it from the menu, it happened that I pushed the button by mistake.
also it's a pity the "focus button" in front of the camera cannot be used for other things (aside from ev compensation... another thing I've never understood on a manual camera...)

Ko Fe, it worked on mine, a factory replacement. I understand that others are good, too.

Curious about this. How many shoot a white balance card to get their white balance?

I did for a while, but then I came back to awb.
with m9 I often used 5500k for outside shots, then I corrected thm in lightroom.

with m10 I'm still experimenting the best solution for me, but it seems awb does a good start (on m9 it was more difficult in awb to obtain a series of shot with similar balance, also in similar light conditions)

am I the only one complaining about the absence of embossed frame around the viewfinder and rangefinder windows?
I understand aesthetics, but with my m3 I never get fingerprints on the windows, with mp and m10 I do 🙁


anyway, the camera has a fantastic ergonomics and size, while I don't use so many commands and buttons (front button, thumb dial, live view button...)
