Maybe some of you have seen this site but I just ran across it tonight. At "I found your camera" you can seek to reunite camera with owner, or find your lost treasure. Of course its a long shot but it's a nice idea, check it out:

Neat idea. I work for USPS and daily find memory cards
that have fallen from envelopes torn in machine processing.
Alas we are required to turn in all found items immediately.
