I think John is on to the most obvious possibility - make sure that the lens isn't held to the back plate by a standard bayonet mount before you start sawing or drilling. See if you can twist the two ears visible in picture 1 and remove it just like you would from a Canon 7 mount.
Here is a picture that may help - to unmount the lens you would grip and twist the stainless release ring to the left if facing the camera via the two ears/grips and the lens will fall right off...
