as you guys know i was anxiously waiting for my canon 7 w/ 50mm f/1.2 supposedly very clean cosmetic condition, with a bright and accurate rangefinder, that lines up perfectly, and shutter speeds that work at all speeds, as told by the seller

well it arrived today

and it is FILTHY

and the rangefinder DOES NOT line up, with any frame

it isnt even the camera in the picture, because this one is the "E-P" the one pictured was not.

the shutter does fire, but it sure doesnt fire accurately! it fires the same speed at every setting.

oh and to top it off. the lens was the 1.4 version, not the 1.2

you have no idea how i am seething with anger right now.
 
let's hope they just sent the wrong camera.

i've had consistantly good deals here and even from photo.net.

the only 'bad' deals i've had were from ebay.

yeah it was from the bay, ive not ever had a problem with buying cameras on ebay. always smooth and easy transactions. then this happens, and i missed out on the Canon P w/ a REAL 50mm f/1.2 a few days after. thats what really gets my goat.....
 
Ebay has a great service that helps with these problems. Do file a claim ASAP and email or call the seller.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Try contacting the seller and tell them that you want to return the camera. I have had some bad sales in the past and all but two of the vendors took that cameras back. The other two were in the Ukrane and there was no point. I just learned to be very careful who I buy from.

just email the seller that they sent the wrong camera. and be nice! i've had mixups, but they've always accepted returns, and gotten a total refund or the correct item.
 
The same thing happened to me and a Canonet. The seller wanted to back out of it by saying that his ad stated it was an "as is" sale, but it didn't. I decided to be firm, not nasty, and he took the camera back. He also took some time to send the money back... and gouged me on the shipping too.

But I was so glad to get the stuff out of the house I didn't even leave neutral feedback. It was a very lukewarm positive... Which this guy seemed to have in abundance. I should have read the signs... :(

Speaking of which... don't leave any feedback yet until the whole reverse transaction is over. He may have made an honest mistake.
 
Lobaferoz was the seller, she was new, i took a chance because it sounded so good, and unless she somehow had a different camera laying ar ound and sent me the wrong one, she either a- knows nothing about cameras because the shutter is horribly inaccurate, as well as the rangefinder. or b - thought she could lie and get away with it.

it was entirely different than the camera pictured, i looked extra close and it was DEFFINATELY the 1.2 in the picture, and this is the 1.4 and a different body, and DIRRRRRTY
 
ouch...definately get a refund or replacement ....or deal with ebay if the seller will not work with you....you could also ask that you keep the camera with a partial refund enough to send it to mark hama or something along those lines...sucks to get burned
 
The shots you posted aren't good enough to depict your complaints. Maybe you're showing viewfinder crud, maybe not. EBay might want decent photos.

Do make a point of downloading/ printing-out your email confirmations and the screens of the original listing, which Ebay keeps available for 90 days.

...first contact Ebay to get their suggestions about how to proceed. Then politely-but-firmly mention EBay's interest when you contact the seller...not a threat, just a reminder. Initially anyway. Of course, if they're not a business they may not care about their future record. That's when this would get worrisome.
 
yeah that is an option, but the thing that pisses me of THE MOST is the fact that it isnt the right lens, the one pictured was the 50mm f/1.2 and that was what i had my sights set on, the fact it had a camera attatched was a bonus. but now it shows up and has the 1.4 ( albeit a good lens, but not the one i wanted )

its just stressful.

ive not had to file a report before, how do i take this up with ebay? especially since the sell er is slower than a turtle to respond to questions.
 
sorry the photos i took werent that great, i tried doing a close up wiht my 50mm lens inverted on my digital, its kind of hard to focus things that way.. heh. i dont own a macro
 
He sent you "his" camera, he used the photo from a different auction. That breaks EBay's rules. How did you pay for the camera? If paypal, the seller committed fraud. Get your money back via Paypal, Ebay, or the credit card. It is called Bait and Switch.

Did you already leave negative feedback? Otherwise, someone else did. You'll want to wait to do that- until "arbitration" (which sucks for everyone) is done.

That's the main reason why I've never bought ANYTHING from e-b. If something sounds too good to be true -- IT PROBABLY IS.

Sorry not to be more sympathetic but are you familiar with the term 'a pig in a poke'? You've bought something you've never seen, from someone you don't know.

Never gamble more than you can afford -- and buying in e-b is a gamble. Sure, pursue all the routes open to you: e-b, Paypal. But remember who got you into this to begin with: a dishonest or stupid seller, and your own cupidity.

well this is the first time ive had a problem with purchasing anything on the bay. and ive gotten a lot from it. ill just have to take the necessary measures to get my money back.

its a shame we live in such a dishonest world.


oh, if you liked the fact she added the little graphic in the corner. notice that she copy pasted almost the entire adorama ad? ... i just did. and i feel lower than low now.
 
OK, you're ahead of the game: you've never been stitched up before, at least on e-b.

So stop complaining about the one time you've been ripped off. Accept this as part of the price you pay for 'bargains'. Amortize it across everything else you've bought and been so pleased with.

It's ALWAYS been a dishonest world: the term 'pig in a poke' is several centuries older than e-b. So is 'caveat emptor'. For the last 10,000 years or morfe, sellers have always wanted to be sure that sellers were selling what they said. Why should the internet change this?
