Well... last week I was feeling particularly well: I won a bunch of rolls of scala on eBay, got hold of a 20-roll pack of ISO 400 slide film in photo.net, later won a small batch of outdated Kodachrome (in 64 and 200 ISOs) and now, I just talked to DAG and he'll be sending me back my alternate Leica body tomorrow!

What else could I ask for? :D

You'll excuse the exuberance, but only you guys understand these little victories. Thanks a lot! :)

Funny how a few purchases can perk one up! Sounds like you're doing well, too... Last week UPS brought 10 Pro-Packs (5 rolls ea) of my favorite Fuji NPZ 800; 3 of them 120 the rest 220. That'll keep me in snapshots for a while!

Today two "new" lenses arrived: A 20mm f/4 Ziess-Jena Flektogon for Pentax M42, and a like-new CV Skopar 50mm f/2.5 from a Photo.net member.

We'll have some 'work' to do, Francisco...

doug, let us know what you think of the cv 50.
i'm curious and have been thinking that if i like using the russian 50 that i might opt for the cv one.

I'll do that, Joe. I'm kinda curious about it myself, what with the differing views expressed. What makes it the best-selling CV lens in Japan? What about pincushion distortion? Soft but not unsharp?

My risk is fairly low, as it came for $175 including the CV bayonet adapter.

I've put it on the M2, my only compatible body with 50mm framelines. Haven't had a 50 on it before. Oddly, it overshoots the 50 framelines slightly, moving the frameline switch a little too far. That's with a CV adapter, but a different brand adapter does the same. Calibration issue I guess.

You guys are really active buyers. Yours-truly will have to lay it off for a while. Unless a good paramender shows up in the auction place.

Doug, this CV lens crossed my path when I was looking for one for my alternate Leica, but I didn't buy it because it's a tiny bit slower than the RF stuff I'm used to. However, it may be a good idea to have one for backup. Will you post some shots when you test it?

I sure will, Francisco! It's on my M2 now, and I'm pondering what film and what "tests" to enjoy. :)

Also, yesterday's mail included the last box of my recent shopping spree, containing a used Gossen Luna Star F hand-held digital lightmeter. Fits in well with coming use of M2!
