M5 Nut
Well, I really do hate all of you but in a good way. Probably Jorge and Tony the most, since they have conspired to come up with the discount on Zeiss gear for us.
I have the M8 which hopefully will settle down and perform the way I want it to one of these days. Next is a pristine Anniv. M5 which still gets a lot of use, but I have been wanting to slowly retire it in favor of another film body that I won't worry about so much. Lastly is the D200, with Zeiss glass also from Tony.
Now for the rambling thoughts:
The D200 with Zeiss glass is SOOOOOOO far ahead of the Nikon glass that I was using before.
I wanted a film body that had clean simple frame lines and AE.
My main focal lengths are 35 & 50. I love the simple lines in the M5 vs. the cluttered dual lines in an M7.
The M7 is more than I want to spend on another film body.
I am really intrigued by the VF being larger on the Ikon since I wear glasses.
The Ikon has more useable flash features and shutter speed than an M7.
The Zeiss lenses render differently than the Leica glass. I have the 50 Lux ASPH which is unbelievable, but the Sonnar also intrigues me for different situations.
So in conclusion, I'm getting a black Ikon and black 50 Sonnar from Tony tomorrow.
Am I nuts??????
Best,
Ray (afflicted by GAS and it is the fault of everyone here at RFF) :bang:
P.S.: Tony has been great to deal with and has earned my business for keeps.

Ray,
My black Sonnar arrived yesterday, it looks and feels great. It is a good size for the MP. I'll be putting it to some good use over the holidays. I'd be interested in how you like it compared to the Summilux.
Cheers,
Nick

Do you like the black better than the silver, Joe? Doesn't it show the fingerprints more?

preference depends on the day.
i prefer black in most things, my clothes, furniture, bags etc.
i also use the silver body with black lenses and visa versa and quite like that look too.
i can't say that i notice fingerprints on either colour body but then i live on a prairie and it's very dry here.

Ray,
Let me be one of the first to apologize for the pains we have caused you. You know that you are not along here brother. Be it GAS, NAS, ZAS, LAS or even CAS, the most important step is to use what you have. Use it to the best of your abilities, stretch yourself in new ways. Share your findings and for the truth is all that will set your GAS free.

Thanks guys.
B2 - That was kinda poetic and cool.
I bought the ZI to use and give the M5 a break, so hopefully you guys will see some photos soon.
It arrives today, and the anticipation is killing me.
Next, it will have to get a Luigi case as a christmas present.

Nah, you're not nuts. If so, I am too. The Luigi case is very nice.
