I have a file that just wont print! it was last printed a few years ago on an epson 2100 and now when I try to print it on my epson 7800 it wont print at all, the file never actually gets to the printer from the prnt dialogue box, it appears to but never gets there, and then photoshop will stop responding, requiring a forced quit. It doesnt seem to matter what I do it still happens. I have no problmes with any other files just this one. would love it if someone might know what is happenig here, its driving me crazy :)
 
It might be a better help to those that read this thread if you gave a little more detail, like what is the file type/extension?
Do other things print on your new printer?

True. It is a Tiff file about 300 megabytes, it doesn't matter what I do, I can change the name, the location, I even tried it as a jpeg same thing happens, I choose settings etc in printer dialogue box send it to printer the progress panel comes up showing the file being transferred to the printer then that's it. At that point PS stops responding and a forced restart is required. It only happens with this file and any version of it. everything else prints as they should!

It's as if its trying to send it to the 2100 printer that it was first printed on as a smaller version, but that printer is no onger even on my machine.

Any ideas anyone ?
 
Could be a driver or a PS limitation.

How many pixels is the file ?

Have you tried printing with another application (like QImage) instead ?
 
The file is probably corrupt. You might try opening the jpeg version in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (assuming you have Windows) and try printing from there.
 
I am using CS3 on a Mac. I solved the problem, it must have been corrupt in some way because I tried converting it from Tiff to Jpeg back to Tiff and then it printed. No idea what was going on but thanks for all your help.
