Often you can send a message to a seller like this and ask them when they will be putting up another copy. It's just a matter of burning a new copy of the DVD. I've had people arrange a time to post so I can grab it as a buy it now right away.

Yes, that's a good point Dan. I've had the seller in my saved sellers list on eBay for some years, and he tends to list his manuals for the Bessamatic and Prominent fairly frequently, but, if the OP is keen to get one ASAP they should certainly approach him with such a request.

I tend to do the quick and messy fix of absolutely dousing the thing in electrical contact cleaner and firing the shutter repeatedly, mopping up any bits of crap off the shutter blades. Let it dry, repeat until bored.

Same problem, here with a Braun Colorette IIL (that is a sibling of the Wittnauer Professional).
So far, I didn't dismantle the Synchro Compur, but I tried aforementioned superficial cleaning using ethanol.
Result is confusing: now the shutter fires every third time as it should, or it opens while I cock the shutter/advance the film, or nothing at all happens.
Can one explain what went wrong here?

You used ethanol might be what went wrong. Try naphtha instead.

I use lighter fluid as well. You have to really give it a good flush (sometimes repeatedly) and rotate the speed dial a lot, then fire the shutter repeatedly at different speeds. You probably dislodged a bit of gunk, but not enough to get it all out.

Also, don't forget to unscrew the lens elements(s) and flush and clean the shutter blades w/ a LOT of Q-tips. What seems like a shutter issue is often simply the shutter blades sticking due to oil. Often it is possible to carefully flood the blades from only one side, and it will seep onto the other side. You have to clean them a lot. If you get fluid on the lens elements, no worries, it will often evaporate right off. Worse comes to worse you unscrew the elements and clean them w/ eyeglass cleaner.

Thank you, Steve, I guess you're right; something is now disturbing the mechanics that wasn't there priviously. Next time I'll proceed more carefully. This time a repair shop will have to complete my erroneous degunking experiment I suppose …

Hi, I have a Voigtlander prominent with a rangefinder and shutter issue. I really need to get hold of one of those CDs from the eBay seller, but it seems as if the links are not working, and I heard somewhere he is not doing it anymore. I'm not sure what to do. It seems there is so little available on how to disassemble a prominent. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What is wrong with the shutter? If it is just gummed up: repeated use of 99% isopropyl alcohol fixed mine. It has two sets of blades. But- 20 years later, still working.

There was an online webpage for repair- but seems to be gone. I'll look...

Another screw to adjust focus is visible when you open the camera back, just above the film gate and in the center. I seem to remember that it sets flange distance? "It did something"...

On my camera- the RF return arm was broken. I took a lot of pictures when I repaired that in 2007.
