I got a beautiful CLAed FED2 w/o self timer from ebay. It arrived today and I am really impressed with the heft and general quality of this thing. I can't wait to go home and run some film through it. I was really into photography when I was younger and actually minored in photojournalism at college but I haven't shot anything in years. I'm sending my old Minolta SLR off to be overhauled as well.

OH! I almost forgot but I found a really great source of cheap film if anyone is interested. I don't work for them or know them or anything so I'm not shilling or anything. They also carry a lot of expired film and toy cameras.

Anyway, I hope to be a regular contributor.

Hyatt, welcome and good luck. The FED is a good camera. You did not mention the lens but lets see some photos.
You might want to check freestyle photos for film as well.

Oh you're right I didn't. Its an Industar 26m. It appears to be clear optically and it focuses smoothly. The lack of clickstops is a little weird and definitely something I'll have to get used to. I look forward to playing with it a bit and maybe eventually upgrading to something like a Jupiter 3 if I can find a good deal on one. I'll take some photos of the old girl when I get home from work and post them up.

thanks and welcome. Interesting URL to the shop with nice camera and film. I recently bought a 20 roll-pack of the Legacy Pro (aka neopan 400) for 29 at http://www.freestylephoto.biz (no affliation).

the other source of film I found is at ultradfineonline where their private label XP-2 is going for like $99.99 for 50 rolls 24 expsoure with free shipping within in the US. (again, i have no affliation to ultrafineonline)

cheers!

Welcome, Hyatt. The FED-2 is a good camera. The one I have is defective, but if you have a properly overhauled example you'll be a happy man.

Just a photo from my cell phone.

Yeah it is in really nice shape. I definitely recommend the guy I got it from. His ebay username is hero4g. I can't wait to take it out this weekend and really start getting a feel for it.

Yeah he was great to deal with. Fast communication. Shipping was a scant 15 days from Kharkov to Seattle. I'd totally buy from him again.
