I just found out an interesting feature about the film settings.

I forgot that I had changed the camera to B&W mode when I took an employee's last day picture. I opened the picture in Epson raw plugin and sent him a nice black and white. Later I then download Adobe's latest camera raw plugin and reloaded the picture to see how well it handles the raw format when lo and behold the picture was in color! So I surmise that when capturing a picture in raw format the picture is captured in color and then based on the film settings of the camera that is how the picture is presented to the viewer. I am relieved!
Cheers,
Chris

Chris, yep, the RAW data is unaffected by color vs. b&w, color balance, noise reduction, etc. settings. You can always go back to square one. :)
