I was a fooling around and back ordered an X100 at Amazon, anyway I forgot I did this (I know, seriously stupid). It just showed up at the door!! This thing is sweet, but I am a happy NEX owner. It is going to be stressful day looking at these two. One of them has to go.

There are a lot worse things to be concerned about
Pick one and let it go... embrace the one you keep

Since you have it right now, get to use it
I just got one randomly yesterday.. a used one though but so far I'm pretty happy with it..
IMHO with the X100, its either you love it or you hate it... Maybe i've heard tons of horror stories about it, that would explain why it exceeds my expectations. But so far, it's filling the gaps by my other RFs i.e. close focusing, AF
Still happy, hope to stay happy..

I, for one, would be very interested in your thinking while sorting this out....
Get ready to abandon your NEX!

Been playing with both for 2 hours now. I am ignoring the "handsome" feature of the X100 and focusing on real life differences. Stay tuned.

I don't, the X100 is going back today. Since the NEX is 10 months old, a return is out of the question.i hope you have enough money left in your bank account so you can eat the rest of this month ...![]()
Impressions: Manual focus sucks on the X100. It is a dream on the NEX with the auto focus lenses or the legacy lenses. That is important to me. I hate going through the menus to change to "sunny weather" setting for bright outdoor days with the NEX but I guess I will live with it. Sure wish Sony could firmware fix that to make it a custom button.
I am an aperture preferred guy and I rather like my aperture ring not so close to the body as on the X100 (I know they also have wheel on the body but I am too old a fart for that). These are quibbles, it is a fine camera and I could love it, easily but I need that $1200 bucks back into my account.

uh-oh!
i am looking toward a digital purchase in coming months. i handled a NEX saturday, and it felt soooooo foreign with the kit lens on it; the body is soooooooo TINY ...

(serious question...)
How can one open a sealed package, play around with the camera, box it back up and get a full refund???
I never return things, but this sounds crazy lenient. How can the product be resold?

Amazon has a pretty lenient return policy if returned within 30 days in "new condition". I don't really really know if they get resold as new or resold as refurbished. I suspect the former. EDIT: Per the post above, I may be wrong.

Akiva,
I think you're going to decide to keep both. I've come to that conclusion about the X100 and an E-P3. My thinking... when I want to dump the baggage and go out with one camera and one lens, the X100 is brilliant. But when I want multiple focal lengths, I now have options.

1. I am a Pro at it as I used to own a computer store and 2. Amazon is lenient.(serious question...)

Sorry you had to let it go, but difficult to argue you did the right thing (returning one of them).
Although being in love with the X100 since I saw it at Photokina having received a faulty specimen sent me into the arms of a NEX-3 instead. The more I use the Sony with legacy lenses, the more infatuated with it I become. The concept of the double viewfinder is brilliant, but somehow the size and the ability to change lenses (and clean the sensor) of the NEX-3 is quite persuasive. Just wish the Sony lenses were better.
On the plus side your returned X100 is hardly going to sit on a shelf and someone else will soon be happy with it.
