I just killed my XA :(

I took the top cover off of my XA to get some dirt out of the viewfinder and the tiny little wires the connect to the top cover both broke. 🙁 I can't get them soldered back together after an hour and a half of trying. It's probably my favorite camera and I always stuck in my pocket and took everywhere.

I guess I'll be looking for a new one after the new year.

eBay prices are really all over the place for them. I'll pick up another one sometime soon. I'm just bummed that the poor little guy died.

I thought those were just for the battery check speaker. Are you sure that the shutter will still not fire?

I'll put it back together and try that! If they're just for the speaker, then I don't care if it doesn't work! Thank you!

Don't feel bad--I've had 2 just die of old age. I'd never buy another. They might have been wonderful when they were new, but now are too unreliable IMHO.

Let's have a moment of silence for Alowisneys XA. I will be flying the Olympus flag at half staff for you tomorrow. My condolences. You may be able to resurrect it from the dead though. Just let it sit a day and let your subconcious mind ruminate on it. You may have success with it at a later time.

Thanks for telling me about that! I was going to give up on it, thinking I'd killed the switch that tells the shutter that the door is open.

I once fell on my bag with a rolleicord in it. the front plate was bent so I couldn't move a lever. It looked dead to me, I was really sad. I've put that thing in my shelf as decoration. A few month down the road I saw a dis-/assembly video about rolleicords and realized I might be able to fix it after all and so did I. Resurrected and working, but sold now that I own a flex planar 3.5

btw. what are the prices for a XA in the moment? I planed to sell mine some day

My XA used to be my favourite camera. But since I started into Leica I rarely touch the XA. I feel like i've been spoiled by the rangefinder patch!
