I know i shouldn't be shocked, but.......

If I had the money I'd seriously consider it. I like old Leicas and I'm a sucker for the Leicavit. But I don't have that sort of money. Unless you do, why worry? And why tut-tut about it and construct pointless fantasies?

It's like saying Rollers and Ferraris 'aren't worth it.' I've had friends who differ -- but they had the money, and I don't. I'm not really qualified to judge, except at second hand thanks to the kindness of those friends; and I suspect that most of those who suck their teeth about all the above -- Leicas, Rolls-Royces, Bristols, or to switch to motorcycles, Brough Superiors or Heskeths, both of which I have ridden and would buy if I could afford them -- either have no experience of any of them OR far more likely could never afford one.

Cheers,

Roger

Oh, I can understand spending the money for it - if someone has it, great. My personal issue is the idea of it sitting on a shelf unused. To me, a camera (or a fine car, motorcycle, rifle, etc) is a fine machine ment to be used. If I owned a Lotus or a fine old Bonneville, I'd be on the road with it daily. Likewise, I enjoy taking my L1A1 out to the range whenever I can. If I had the funds to buy a camera like the one in the original post and if I did buy it, it would only be with the intention of putting film through it. That was what I ment with my earlier posting.

But the reality is that it will probably never have another roll through it. And that is what saddens me.

After buying the Canon Vt and having Essex CLA it, I have all the trigger winds I want. And after getting the Nikon M Unsync and Canon 50mm F1.5, I feel like the RF collection is complete. And Expensive. THAT is why I have started collecting old Digital cameras. For the same money that this Mp went for, you could buy EVERy old Digital camera on the planet. And I do not mean one of each.
