After using of 5D MKII for several month I don't like it. With 5D I was able to get nice, punchy JPEG1 SOOC, but MKII has weird WB in JPEG1 and even RAW files looks kind of dull, ISO 1600 on MKII looks not as good as on 5D where ISO noise was like film grain.

I also run some calculations and it is shocking 🙂

Leica M8 + Elmarit-M (type 3) 28 2.8, this is what I might be able to afford, total weight is approximately 570+250=830 gm. FOV is 37mm.

Canon 6D + 40 mm 2.8 STM lens kit weight is approximately 680+130=810 gm. FOV is 40mm.

And Canon 500D + 24 2.8 STM lens which I already have is ... 510+125= 635 gm 😱 FOV is 37 mm.

Even with 28 ASPH M8 is 100 gm more than 500D with 24 pancake.

Here is absolutely no practical reason to get M8, because my main concern with weight, size and OVF is already covered with Canon 500D.

And FF, no flash needed in low light 6D with 40mm AF pancake cost same as M8 without lens... :bang:

Get a 100D and it will be even 100g lighter and smaller.

This is even more shocking, used SL1 is under $300 with great kit lens! It could be replacement camera after my 500D craps out. My 500D is at 100K shutter release count now... Or newer Rebel with turn around screen for M-D effect! 🙂

The only practical reason to purchase any Leica RF is because you prefer the RF window finder with a manual focus patch to through the lens viewing. Weight, size, noise and cost are all clearly able to be equaled or bettered by other modern cameras. I do think that RFs remain 'friendlier' to subjects though, particularly if they're film rfs.

I have two Canadian Leica film RFs, one FSU which I have started to take pictures with and another FSU film RF is on its way. I'm RF (Leica and some FSU) fanatic on film. I have film Leica with me everyday and almost everywhere.

So, I was trying to get into Leica's digital RFs since I have coded Leica made lens for it, but I'm getting realized what I don't have deep enough pockets for digital Leica RF camera and possible repairs. Checked on Leica X and T as less expensive options, small dSLR with pancake is still better choice to me...

if you like shooting with a RF a lot or zone focusing, then a digital RF is imminent for you.
but TBH in my experience the novelty wore out after a couple of months and ended up selling my M9 and M240.
loved them but I find that I like the results more from my film Leica than digital Leica.

Also I'm really happy with Fuji, body feels like a RF and I can use AF lens in it.
Tempted on selling my X-E2 and getting an X-Pro2.

X-E2 + 24mm f/8 gives me the same pleasing shooting experience as my M3 + CV25mm or M4 + 35mm.
light, quiet, pre-focused at 3m (everything is relatively sharp) and great fuji colors

Agree the xpro2 works well with widish manual lenses prefigured.
