I bought my Hexar AF classic 5-6 weeks ago and absolutely love it. It's kicked off my lost love affair with film again - been D-SLR for last 4-5 years.

It's so easy to use, so fast to shoot and so light so I carry with me all day everywhere. Just lets me focus on compositions.

Here are some of my fav samples. What do you guys think? More on my flickr tagged with "Hexar AF" http://www.flickr.com/photos/glass_and_tubes/tags/hexaraf/

Great shots - love some of the ones on your Flickr stream too. These really show how sharp and contrasty that lens is. These are all very strong indeed but 2 and 5 are my favourites - love the leering City boys in 5!

I had a Hexar AF for a couple of months but it started to get the sticky shutter problem they all seem to develop so I had to take it back while it was under warranty - I was really annoyed because it's the perfect street camera. This makes me want to try getting another one!

I was trying to decide where to go shooting tomorrow but I've made up my mind - Shoreditch it is! That coffee bar in number 3 is great....

I got mine used...shutter problem? I don't like the sound of that!? :( Could you elaborate?

I have had a few missed shots when I thought I pressed the shutter but it didn't shoot. I just thought it's just too 'quiet' and i'm not used it since it doesn't have the SLR mirror 'clank'. Or is that it?

I assume I can send it off to be repaired by any good shop? I know Minolta/Konica is no longer.

Yup, that's it - you think you've locked focus and then when you try to push the shutter all the way in the picture doesn't get taken and sometimes the camera hunts for focus again.

If you do some searches on here and elsewhere there's a few threads and articles about it - the issue is with the shutter switch - some people seem to get away with just disassembling the switch and cleaning the contacts, but in theory you can replace the whole switch I think.

If your camera is like mine the problem's only intermittent, but my concern was that it was likely to get worse over time.

I got mine from Aperture so it was under warranty and they refunded my cash for me no questions asked - in some ways I'd rather have tried a repair and kept the camera but it didn't seem worth the risk!

Yes, mine was intermittent. Will see how I go and send it to a shop if required. I love it too much to part with it for now. I bought a M recently since I enjoyed the Hexar so much. I'll probably keep the Hexar as my second camera to M (2 lens or colour+B&W film) or sell the M if I don't get a long with it.

Thanks everyone. About to put in my first two roll for the M. Interesting to see how i go esp. given the steep learning curve of a M.
