Inspired by a few photography bars in central Tokyo (ex. Nagune and Kodoji at Golden Gai), frustrated by the lack of dedicated gallery spaces and meeting places for photo geeks in this little city of central Norway, I started my own place, knowing it's going to lose money. I did my math, and even if I sell ZERO, a year of this madness, all included, will cost me less than a new Leica M body. We live only once. And some times way too shortly.

Congratulations!

Unfortunately no plans for visiting Trondheim in the foreseeable future, but if I do, I'll sure come by! We're just some 500 kilometres apart (I live in Oslo), so let us be optimistic and say "ci vediamo" :)
 
You deserve lots of good luck simply for being brave enough to get on and do it.

I wish I was closer or had some spare cash for a visit to Norway!

I would love to be able to do something like this in my own town (well, the nearby town of Gothenburg that is).
 
Great looking place. On of our Club's members started his own gallery in our little foothill town and is doing quite well. Best of luck.

Now maybe you should list some prints for sale on RFF so your international friends and colleagues can help support it from afar.

I'd love to see a thread about more galleries like this that are labors of love by the photographers, singly or collaboratively, and describe their aims, setups, responses and (of course!) challenges.

Is there a Story behind the italian name other than you being italian and trying to lure People in by giving it a name that sounds like it could be a Pizza place (good marketing idea btw).

Haha, nice question! The name I chose for my website when I started it a few years ago, “Il cimento della fotografia”, was inspired by the name of Antonio Vivaldi’s most famous opus, the one containing the Four Seasons. The Italian word “cimento” means excercise, experiment, commitment. And Vivaldi is one of my greatest loves. The funny story that few people know is that his ultra famous work "The Four Seasons" was discovered over 200 years after the composer's death.. (what will happen to my photography too)?

I have already a few books for sale on Blurb, and am preparing a new and much much better one.

As for the Nespresso machine, it's a good idea. Right now I'm ordering a little fridge, officially for film (but if the photo chat turns out nice, something else may come out of it too..)
