I need a compact 28mm For M4-P

Its for b&w only and it does not have to be fast. The lens should be compact, black color and high contrast.

I'm also willing to go wide up to 24mm if I can get what I want.

Budget is under $500.

Do you know where I can buy it in Toronto? Harry's pro shop does not carry this particular lens. He carries the CV 25mm f4 which is interesting as well but I don't know anything about that lens.

Edit: nvm downtown camera has both of those lenses.

I think I'm going with 28mm f3.5 because the 25 f4 brings out the 35 framelines on M cameras.

I have the CV 28mm f3.5 also. Fantastic lens. I also use it on my M4-P. The small size makes the combo pocketable with no trouble at all. I really love it. It is becoming my all-purpose kit.

Downtown Camera carries VC but I'm not sure if they have any in stock, may not be able to order it if it's out of production.

Also try camtecphoto.com and bigcameraworkshops.com (camtec is in Montreal and you'll save on the PST), bigcameraworkshops is in burlington but Rob will ship...

alternatively you could be patient and wait for a used one, I see them come up from time to time at decent prices

It's a great idea, but I think folks in Canada get taxed heavily on goods sold from the States...

Ummm...is it illegal to have it shipped to an RFFer in the US who could then pass it on to you as a "gift"? It is the season. Both CameraQuest and Photovillage have new ones in stock.

well, its a lot of headache and in the end it will cost me more than i want to.

the purchase is not urgent and i also have been thinking about selling the m4-p and getting a r4m to widen my horizon (no pun intended).

Nh3 - if you're interested I could trade you my black 28/3.5 if you buy the silver one from camtec. Mine was purchased from downtown camera a little over a year ago and it's in excellent condition (hard to tell from new) other then a tiny wear mark on the aperture knob...

Keep the M4-P. It's really prefect with the 28mm. I can't imagine a better combo- small yet solid.
