I Need A Small Screw This Week

Plan A worked just fine.

The optician did it. Three minutes, and no charge.

Mind you Liliana would have given me three minutes and charged me €50.

The only problem was that I didn't want old-fashioned optician to know that I'd defected to the modern optician, so I had to wear old eyeglasses from him and manage to cross a busy road.

End of story: the camera is fixed.

That isn't a bad idea at all..

In fact, that's what I may very well do with a couple of run down cameras I've lying around taking up space and constantly reminding me that they're broken and need to have something done about them..
 
I hear that, there are some small places around here that can do nice things but the most incredible thing I have found when it comes to fixing stuff here is that there is this little cubical in a major shopping center here, the guy fixes watches, just for kicks I took my 40 year old Bulova Acuttron (a watch that runs on tuning forks inside creating a sonic resonance to keep time) to him that was out of wack, mind you we are in the west of china...he knew exactly what it was and gave it a cla and a battery adapter and it was fast and cheap and the thing works perfectly now. Crazy....but the most interesting thing.....he repairs lenses, cleans fungus and mold, and can even fix cameras or just about anything. Crazy indeed. He has since fixed my Movodo, two Acuttrons, and soon I will be taking my YashicaMat in for a shutter fix.
