Leica LTM I need counseling [Leica iiig & Summitar]

I photographed these with Leica iiig & Summitar 50mm F2

I noticed that there are many pictures. Light up from the bottom and corners.

I want to know if anyone has experienced these symptoms. With this camera and lens. And how can I solve it?

At first I thought that was the filter.
But I tried taking pictures by removing and inserting filters.
Find out how to remove the filter. It turns out that the light is coming from the bottom rather than filtering it.

Looks very much a light leak, probably through the viewfinder; in any case from the top of the camera. You'll need a repair.

Erik could be right, but I'd be suspicious of a faulty light baffle. It looks like light could be getting around the top of the curtains.

Faulty light baffle is my best guess as well. Light passing over the top of the curtains. Very similar to what I had with my M3.

I can only offer my commiserations. I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has an answer. Both my IIIa and IIIb show similar light leaks, although at picture top, (i.e. camera bottom) which would seem to preclude the viewfinder.
The leak happens during exposure- it doesn’t show on the unexposed film border between frames. The dark area along the picture edge is presumably the shadow of the shutter curtain guide. The appearance is extremely intermittent- I’ve had photos taken seconds apart, with the camera stationary on a tripod, one with flare and one without. But the really weird thing is that it only happens with colour film. I’ve never seen it on B & W. Explain that!

I agree that it looks to be a light-leak from the top of the camera.

Are all the perimeter screws that secure the top plate to the body in place ?

As an experiment, you could try a band of black electrician's tape around the body, covering the joint between the top plate and the body, and see if the light-leak goes away...

I took a flashlight in the dark room.
Viewfinder, shutter curtain, both exterior and interior, gradually turn the curtain.
I do not see any light coming from anywhere.

In addition to camera abnormalities. Is that possible? The lens is abnormal.

looking at the leak if it were a light baffle within the shutter the leak wouldn't continue full across the frame.

I would assume a leak from the top cover or viewfinder as per erik. You should try taping around parts of the top of the camera to pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from.

I have checked the top cover. Including a viewfinder and rangefinder. All good points There are no loose points.

Light baffles deteriorate with time. For M cameras there are mylar replacements.

To find leaks, use a very small light like a keychain light and a dark room. Tough when the back does not open, but you can use a few frames of film.

Sometimes collapsible lenses leak where they collapse.

Light baffles are around the shutter inside so tape will not repair them. Only a repair person can fix.

There may be an addition leak top left. Send film samples with the camera for repair person to diagnose.

Have you removed the lens and/or changed lenses before exposing the frames with the light leaks? Even RFs with perfect curtains and light baffles can get these kind of leaks if bright light shines directly onto the curtain area with no lens in place.

Oh what fun. A light leak.

Its almost certainly a light leak. Somewhere around the top of the camera. I supsect it is affecting the film gate area and not in the take up spool chamber. I think that because of the occluded band along the very top of the film (bottom of printed photo).

Unfortunately, if you are not a proficient camera tinkerer it will want to go to a competent repair technician. This is not really a good camera to start learning how to do camera repairs, even if you're good at fixing other small items (like laptops or small radios, etc.) And, I cannot overemphasize the need for a competent repair technician. People here at RFF will all know the most popular technicians (DAG Camera Repair, Youxin Ye, Sherry Krauter, Gus Lazzari, Steve's Camera, CRR Luton, Will van Manen). There are others too, but make sure they're competent.

If you're in the U.S. you might check with Youxin Ye. He tends to be less expensive and is a good choice for "simple" repairs.

I did not try to change lenses during shooting.
But i will try
