I need some darkroom bits and pieces.

Before I go shopping for them I thought I'd ask here for anybody in the UK who is clearing out or has some bits they're thinking of selling?

My shopping list is pretty huge, to have everything I want, but I've deleted everything that I have covered. My darkroom is only gonna be small, but needs to cover 35mm up to 5x4!!

--Equipment Needs--

Enlarger
35mm-6x9 (to replace broken one)
Graded Filters (maybe sorted)
Timer!!!

Enlarging lenses
(50/75/90 is sorted)
135/150(have an old barrel lens i may use)/180

Paper
10x8, 5x7 (this can be bought of course, and I have a lot of half-boxes)

Chemicals
Dev, Stop, Fix (easy enough to buy)

Print and Neg Dryer/Heater of some sort
Drying Racks (can be improvised)
35mm/120 clips - those nifty ones that pinch the neg ends
4x5 Hangers (got a bunch)
35/120/45 Developing Tanks (nearly sorted on this one, only need 4x5 now)
10x8/11x14 Developing Trays? (got some I think, only good for 8x10 paper)
Safelight(s) (sorted)
Thermometer (easily bought)
Squeegee/Tongs (don't really want tongs, and hopefully tongs can be improvised)
Measuring jugs (sorted)
Dust brush
Cotton Gloves (purchase online)
Focusing loupe (could use lens glass)
Bucket/print washer (improvise)
Contact Printer/Frame and glass
Easel (old one)

I'm not sure if I'm missing anything. Chances are anything I'm missing from the list I have so it isn't on there.

So I guess I'm asking if anybody has darkroom supplies going unused that can be sold cheap, please let me know before I resort to dealers!

Hi Ash, I am in NL for another couple of months, else I'd take the 5x4 off your hands. Over here there are a lot of people, and businesses, selling off darkroom gear so I hope that is the situation in UK as well. Good luck !

Martin, I hope you mean the camera in my sig, rather than the darkroom stuff I'm looking to buy (not sell) :)

I'm in the same boat as you, Ash. Building up all the bits I need as and when I spot them at boot sales etc. I do have a couple of print driers that I may be persuaded to part with (might swap for stuff I need ; bottles, trays other "wet" stuff and a stopclock etc)

I have a LPL C6700 in excellent nick which you can have. I also have many trays (16x12?), paper chemicals (oooooold) and other stuff (print glazer and RC print dryer, sir?).

You can have a contact printer as well.

I also have a Jobo CPE2 but I want £20 for that (anyone?).

Kully. You're awesome.

Let me pm you in a moment, and sort out the pint-for-equipment ratio :D

no worries, jst remembered I can sort you out with tongs, safelight (**** knows exactly how safe) and other bits and bobs.

I'll be offline until the evening / tomorrow morn though.

Awesome! Thanks matey :D

I'll get onto my dad about a lift to collect it all, and about that Jobo too (I noticed it may be able to process 4x5 in that tank).

No doubt I'll grab everything from you  :D

Yup, I meant the camera mentioned in large letters in your sig.

There are multiple 5x4 enlargers going cheap every week around here, and I haven't used the format since I worked in a lab (but frequently wanted to). People don't seem to be selling large format cameras though, or maybe only via the trade for loadsamoney.

I'm pleased Kully can help !

Martin,

I had to buy that camera from the states, and believe me I spent a LOT more than £150!!
I only have one LF camera that came from the UK, and that's a bulky (and useless) half plate field camera, otherwise I've been shelling out to american sellers for any equipment. It's difficult to find at a fair price over here :(

I travelled from Swindon (Wiltshire, SouthWest) up to York to get myself the 5x4 enlarger, a Beseler CB-7. It's only good for LF though, otherwise I'd use it for 35mm and medium format.

I'm not familiar with that model, but most 4x5 enlargers allow smaller negative printing by changing out or moving the condensers (assuming that is a condenser enlarger of course).

Oftheherd. It's like the Beseler 45 model. It works the same, but the neg carrier is only good for 6x6, and the 35mm carrier is broken. Considering the age and condition of the enlarger, I'd prefer to keep it set up solely for LF, otherwise I'm more prone to breaking it!

Noel, no idea :D
