I Paid $4000 and All I Got was a Crappy Lens Hood!

why would the seller get banned? It is clearly advertised as a lens hood from the museum, there is not a lens in the picture or anything.

If someone wants to buy it for an insane amount of money, more power to their elbows?

You're right. Arsenal is a really easy target. I have shot at them myself. And I'm sure they have customers, as they already have a store in Hong Kong (or so they claim).

People are entitled to charge whatever they want for their gear, and others are entitled to pay whatever they want for it.

I announce I have an original Summarit shade, in super-duper Mint condition.

$3,500

(I'm half-serious -- if you show me the money, I'll be as serious as I can be)

Andy is right in the "Arse" aspect in Arsenall.

I still don't like it how they clog the auction site with their overpriced offers, though... But then, I have survived to it.

Nice dog in your avatar!

I think it's a fair call - after all, I think that most folks (save for those uber collectors of all things Leica) would think that paying $3900+ for a lens hood (that's only a prototype even 😀) is a bit silly..

On closer inspection, it's in super-duper excellent condition with some brassing on the edges and original lacquer missing in spots here and there, which are nondiscernible unless you look very carefully.

So, it's $3,100. 🙂

For that price they should ship it with a body guard.

I recall they were selling a dummy M5 model in clay or wood some time ago. Also for a few thousands.

Oh, well... That's the collectors' world! 🙂
