I think it's a fair call - after all, I think that most folks (save for those uber collectors of all things Leica) would think that paying $3900+ for a lens hood (that's only a prototype even 😀) is a bit silly..

On closer inspection, it's in super-duper excellent condition with some brassing on the edges and original lacquer missing in spots here and there, which are nondiscernible unless you look very carefully.

So, it's $3,100. 🙂

That isn't really "provenance", but more like 'hearsay'. I would have thought that a more formal provenance document would have been offered. That might better justify the price.
