Reviews have been quite good.
Outdoor Photographer had nice things to say about the G11 last month.
Seems preliminary info was true.
Nice test shots.

The Canon G series has been great

The Canon G series has been great

I used a G2 for a couple of years before moving on to DSLR. Still have the G2 and occasionally use it. Have also used it in studio situations with excellent results.

They can be had cheaply used. Only downer is the shutter lag but one can learn to deal with it by pre-focussing by holding the shutter down half-way before shooting.

Here are a couple of G2 shots.

Thanks for the info and photos, had a G9 for a long while, and kind of regretting selling the camera so I´v been watching the G11 for a while, tempting indeed :)

Still using my venerable Canon G5 for news work.
'Locked' on w/a, Kenco adapter tube, 52mm UV,
screw in rubber hood (shock absorber), CV 35 finder.
Gets the job done without a fuss, day or night... and,
a lot easier on the old guy than lugging a dslr & gear.

A couple of shots with my new G11. Haven't really tried low light performance yet, but the leaf shot below is ISO 640 and exhibits only moderate graininess. Rainy weekend here in DC...

Both developed with Raw Developer then a touch of Photoshop.

Initial impressions very positive.

the S90 does the same things but the lens gathers twice as much light ! and the body much smaller, and you even have an aperture ring

Remove the /sizes/o/ from the url in internet explorer's address bar after it says you are not allowed. Works fine

I think any would be happy with the G11. I am really getting to know the camera. There have been times of both elation and disappointment, but the good times seem to be winning. At first, I was disappointed at the focusing and felt that it would be limiting. However, the results have certainly exceeded my expectation.
