I saved some Edwardian images today

I found some glass slides at a flea market today. Most were of rather boring landscapes and not cheap, so I bought all those with people in them, scanned them and cleaned them up in PS. All taken by a P.J. Green in England. They look to be around 1900-1910.

They are sweet aren't they? A credit to the long life of film imaging. Nice thing about a lot of England is that all of these shots could be taken today. Here is contemporary Knaresborough, taken from roughly the same spot, and the Edwardian image. Most of the buildings are still there.

Wonderful images! And they put me in mind of a photo album which has been in my family for at least that long, where I first saw my maternal grandfather as a young man in his 20s? 30s? whom I had only known as an elderly person.

Yeah, I too have an album of photos, taken, developed, printed and annotated by my estranged grandfather in the 1930s. They told me he died young (which he didn't), so I never met him, but he loved travel and photography... just like me. I will scan them one day.

Thank you for posting these Edwardian pictures. I have an album of pictures from a world cruise by my father in 1939 which I hope to scan. You have prompted me to get back to the project.

That's all that I bought today as they had people in period dress and I am a street guy, so I like people in the shots :)

I am going to keep my eyes open for some more original lantern slides and negs on my travels. I went out to look for film cameras today, but I guess images are why we are here, so they make a great alternative.
