i visited belgrade camera fair today and i saw leica m2 for the first time . so i played a bit with it and it really feels great. beautiful rf patch , very silent when shooting and smooth winding. now i understand why so many people love leicas. unfortunately it was 500euro. :( thats waaay out of my budget. but anyway it was interesting experience. (and i found zorki 5b with slow 1st curtain for 4 euro so i bought it - it looks like some weird leica :D)

Now your doomed. It happened to me too. I held a M6 for the first time in april and next thing I know is that I bought one in june, using the money I had saved for my yearly summer trip. My girlfriend wasn't happy... lol.

500 EUR is too much. If you are patient enough, you should be able
to get a good user for 350 EUR or below.

And yes, you are doomed now :)

i dont think im doomed. i just had a nice time when i was trying it out. its always interesting for me too see precise mechanical instruments. i love mechanics. but i cant justify giving that much money even for that nice camera. maybe one day but there is no rush. longer the wait is - happiness will be bigger. :)

I ordered an M6 last week. I was doomed after reading that article in the New Yorker. Before that article, I was convinced the ultimate camera was a nikon F100.

hahahahaha.... try the F5 or even the F6 under wierd lighting conditions... you'll love those even more.

HOWEVER, the m4/6 is a whole different story. Held an m4 at a trade show, smelled it, shot it, BOUGHT it. now i'm in trouble.

I bought my first Leica about 2 years back. "Just to have a look" was what I was thinking when I went into a shop to see a MP. Seeing became fondling, fondling led to desiring, then the sleepless nights....

Went back there with my credit card already out of the wallet even before I step in.... and the rest is history.

I-m afraid it's impossible ... Leica M users in Serbia are small number of people who,
in my opinion, are more collect than use that cameras. They know what Leica name on camera is for someone like us and they use that fact
Nzee is wise man, but if I were in his place, I'll change my leg for that camera :p
That's why I don't want to go to camera fair ... there was some EFKE B&W films
for fair price too.
350Euros ... hmmmm , I'll be very happy if enybody send me information where
in Serbia I can find M2 for that price ... BESSA is beautifull ... and loud.
All best to all,
Vlad.
P.S. and, yes when I say rangefinder I think : Leica M camera

No, you're doomed. I went to the Leica factory in Spring to do a shoot, saw how they made the cameras and within a week all I could think about was where I coudl find one. NOw that I have my first all I can think about is my second!
