Having had no luck offering to sell or trade my Nikon Coolscan V ED here on RFF, I got an online quote from KEH and shipped it off to them.

I thought the offer was fair, but I was expecting the worst, thinking that once the scanner was in their clutches they would try to low ball the price they would pay. Not so. They took a long time to examine the scanner and had some trouble with their software, which was not up-to-date, but once this was resolved they paid the agreed price promptly.

I was pleasantly surprised!

I don't scan now, Paul. I've been back and forth and have finally settled on the only kit that makes sense for this retiree with limited funds and still with a pretense of doing some commercial work . . . A D300 + good lenses. No more Leicas for me, unfortunately.

Sad to hear no more Leica to you, You could use all your film cameras and when you send to develop it they can scan your film with good quality and its cheap.

But I understand digital is cheaper, easy and has a fantastic way to shot and saw the result immediately.

Regards.

KEH is very fair with their offers. Six months back I was looking to sell some stuff I wasn't using anymore. The local camera store offered me $200.00, which I declined. I left the store with the clear notion that they were looking to take advantage of me. A couple of weeks later, KEH was in town doing a buying event and ended up giving me $700.00 for the same equipment.
