Searching help to take a decision I took a class in B+W developing and enlargment.
So, lolling in the confidence of living in the digital age I was sure that developing film and scanning would be my way and learning the basics in enlargment would be a nice extra but nothing I would really need. Self assured I even told that to the instructor who answered " Sure, that is a possibility", but with such a malicious grin that I really should have been warned. Maybe he knows how to predict the future or someting like that, because when in the moment my first print developed I surrendered.

On my way home I was already making plans how to rearrange my bathroom to get enough place, hoping that my tax refund will come soon......

So, let me offer a advice to other newbies, never take a class like me. I don't know if it will change your life, but it will change the design of your bathroom for sure :bang:

What enlarger will you get. An Omega B22 is a good way to go to start out and its small enough for your bathroom.

Since traveller is in Germany, I guess a DURST or a KAISER would be his first choice

After a day at the office, it's real good to step away from the PC screen and see the magic of the image write itself to the paper. Scanners are good and printers are getting better but to me that would cost a small fortune so for now at least I'll switch on the wireless, tune into the "light programme" and print the old way and have fun.

All nice quality products, I will see what I can get used. Could also be a Meopta, my major preference is that I can use filters for Variopapers. But there are so many people going digital that I don't think there is a problem finding a affordable one in good quality

That's no problem as long as it helps getting away from square eyes after a day in the office, but maybe I should get a black suit and a hat too so I can pretend I'm one of the Blues Brothers 😀

PC's and the rest of the hardware are a nice things but it's great to do some things in the real world. And a good enlarger will still be usable in 10 years when today's digital gimmiks have gotten so outdated that you can't use them any longer even if they are full functional......

Colour head Meopta Opemus 6's are going for about €80 in the UK on evil-bay. Condenser models for a little less. In fact you could end up paying more for a good lens than the enlarger itself. Interesting times.
