I usually carry my camera everyday with me wherever/whenever I go out in Bangkok, but the last 2 days, I decided not to take my Leica with me......well, the 1st day I saw something interesting and was kicking myself thinking, stupid me for not bringing my camera to work......then tonight, as I was walking home, I saw something that I really wanted to photograph......
Instead, I shot these 2 photos with my iPhone 4......I am bummed by them....well, I learned a lesson and hope I learn from this.....
This guy was working on some electrical wires.....

This I shot tonight, I am bummed I did not have my Leica with me....

cheers, michael

Well, you had the IPhone with you, so this beats having no camera at all, Michael.

Have a small camera in your pocket, such as the Olympus XA or Minox GT.

Good advice Raid, but I usually take my Leica with me......I do own a Yashica T4 but sadly, it hasn't been used in a long time......and to be honest, I have no idea why I didn't take my camera (Leica) with me the last 2 days.....I just looked at it in the morning and said to myself, "no camera today".......stupid me.......I learned my lesson (hopefully) and I will be able to capture interesting things in the future.....
cheers, michael

The way they work out here is so crazy in terms of "safety"........I was looking at this guy standing about 3 floors high and not wearing any safety equipment such as a safety belt.....but that is just the way things are done out here......
as far as the ninja mask goes, that is so they do not get "dark skin"......
cheers, michael

A few years ago, a pitcher for the New York Yankees crashed a small plane into a high rise building near the East River behind the auction house Sotheby's. The building that houses my research lab was evacuated because it was just two doors down.
Anyways I had the opportunity of a lifetime to make a AP photo that could of changed my life, if I had a camera. I was on the scene before the news crews and later that night when I watched the video it did not capture what I saw those first initial 5 minutes. I was at the right place at the right time, but I blew the shot because I had no camera with me.
Now I almost always carry a camera even though I might not be actively shooting.

It happens all too often to me as well. Even up to the point of saying sometimes that I take my best pictures without a camera...:bang:
And since my G7 stopped working (G7 & G9 owners beware; mine blew out because of the famous loose screw time bomb, but of course I only found out when the damage was already done) I miss my never ready P&S when out in my habitat.
But hey, no excuse anymore to leave my XA's on the shelve (if I can remember which one works 100%).

Well, these do not look like Pullitzer winners, but the point is another one: when you have a camera with you, you tend to keep your vision sharper, you exercise your eye. I normally feel naked if I don't have a camera with me in the street.

I always keep my Olympus Trip in my car so I can forget it when I get out..

I had access on 72d Street behind the police. Airplane parts were on the sidewalk and street. The flames were a lot more dramatic than on the news b-roll that night. I thought the building would be a goner because the flames were spreading so fast.
It would of been a great-great shot because I was so close. Wish I had my Leica with 28 Cron on that day. I would of had airplane wreckage in the foreground.

More power to you. Photographing accidents where people were killed and homeless people are two thing I won't do.
if someone is drowning or in need of help I would never take a chance to photograph but help instead. I am sure all of us would do the same

Hahahaha, so true. By the time you developed them and scanned them, the news would have been over Cal.

The question I have for you, Michael, is why you seem to be at a higher vantage point than the ninja electrician. You look like you're on the next pole!
I have a near-pathological need to carry a decent camera wherever I go. If I walk to the work car park without a camera I pat my clothes to make sure that I at least have a cellphone.
