I decided to treat myself to a new toy today:

I've wanted a I series for years. I'm thinking about using this with a C-V 25 or a Leica Elmar 50, not sure which yet. Perhaps even a C-V 15. And maybe a BarnackWinder if I can swing it!

This is my first "real" Barnack!

I just realized that plopping a C-V Mini-Finder into the offset accessory shoe would make it look a lot like a Standard... hmmm. (I've always loved the simplicity of Standards.)

While I love my 15, get an old 25 with finder while you still can. This would rock as a street camera. Much more pocketable than my L, very very cool.

Just watch out with the shutterspeed selector. There's a trick you must remember. I can't recall if you should only change shutterspeeds when the shutter is ready (cocked) or after you've released. But I'm sure someone will tell you. It's just that if you don't follow the directions about shifting shutterspeeds you may damage the mechanism.

Again, thanks all. My birthday was Monday but I didn't get the urge to treat myself until I saw this. I hope the condition is as nice as the photos imply - if there's a problem, it's returnable.

Francisco - IIRC you set the shutter speed after cocking. At least that how my Zork works.

Rob - I'm wide open on lenses for this treat at the moment. I'm not planning on turning it into a system. I'm also considering keeping it all period Leitz with a Summaron 35/3.5 and a Leica finder.

Actually, I've turned 45 twice so far, and since that's where I draw the line, I hope to turn 45 another 30 time or so before I'm done.

Hi Ken, and Happy 45th. I can fully recommend the CV 28mm 3.5. It's a wonderful lens, and, despite the tiny little focussing knob, one's fingers don't show up in the field of view. Remember that thread over on the "other" forum? I would suggest the VC metal 28mm 1:1 finder; it's a total winner. Unless of course you're sold on the mini.

As a footnote, I used to own a If red dial, and, in a fit of idiocy, sold it one day... I somewhat undid the damage by buying a IIIa...
Lessson learned: NEVER sell a Leica unless of course, it's a matter of your next meal.
