Voigtländer aspherics are moulded glass, not compound. Sorry: I cannot recall where I got the wrong impression. But given the source of the answer when I asked directly (a source I'm not comfortable disclosing), I'm pretty sure I was wrong when I said they were hybrid.

Hybrids consist of an 'optical resin' (= plastic if you're being rude) moulded onto a glass element as a substrate. Moulded glass is... well... moulded glass...

Wait, so the aspheric elementsin Voigtlander lenses are pure glass? I am not certain of the difference in image quality that makes, but molded aspheric glass sounds to be a more complicated process than what compound aspheric elements use. Plastic is certainly more ... easily manipulated, right?
