I went to a garage sale and I got home with...

On a more positive note, congrats on your find Ronald! I love going to garage sales because you just never know what you're going to find.

Don't know how I missed this Merit Badge.

Thanks guys 🙂 A bit of good luck is nice once in a while.

They also auctioned a bag with a large MF kit in it. I could identify a Rolleicord and what looked like an old 6x6 SLR, but not a Hassy. It went for 76 euros.

Actually the first time I found something worthwhile photography-wise in a sale like this. Good fun! I still wait for the day when I'll find an M3 for a few euros ;-)

Olympus XA with A11 flash for $1. The camera only needed batteries, the flash only needed the battery leakage cleaned out.
Also four rolls of print film (3 Kodak HD and 1 Fuji) for 25 cents.

Ive been going to car boot sales and charity auctions for years..
The best Ive done is a box of FSU lenses (15), some with cameras attached(4), two old folders (bessa I and old kodak) and assorted cases for £10.00 - gradually tested and even fixed a few of them then sold off the ones I didnt want or gave them to the local night school.. I made about £5.00 on the whole deal, and use of the schools darkroom for a year..

On which point - I was told that there was a classified section here to give stuff away for the cost of postage - but I cant find it.. Has it gone or am I not looking in the correct place?

In France we have 'vide greniers' - literally, 'attic emptying', a sort of annual village-wide yard sale, one per village - and that's where I got my graduates last Sunday, at St. Chartres, about 5-6 km away. In Germay the same thing is called a Flohmarkt or fleamarket. In the UK, a car boot sale is normally a weekly or monthly event, usually in a field or very large car park, patronized by people from miles around. In all of them, the ratio of junk to useful stuff is immense but every now than then you get lucky. On Sunday, as well as the graduates I bought a book, and Frances got a lot of sewing stuff.

Cheers,

R.
