I wish I'd never sold my...

My First M6. I bought it in Chicago in 1997. When I called Sherry Krauter to setup getting it CLA'd she asked me for the serial number. She told me to wait a minute while she got a book, then she came back to the phone and asked me to repeat the number. When I did she said you're not going to believe this, but that camera of yours is the 10th M6 ever built.

I sold it at a camera show in 1998 in Pasadena, CA. Bought a pair of M2 bodies. I kick myself all the time for doing that.
 
I sold my Nikon F awhile ago. I miss it terribly. I also sold my F2, but I only miss the 50mm 1.4 that I sold with it. The F3 is a great camera, but it isn't the same. The F felt like a brick made of love.

I sold a black Spotmatic as I had two, but the one I kept was chrome. I should've kept the black one. It was slightly brassed and slick as all hell. The chrome one is cool, but the love just isnt there.
 
It was probably some 15 years ago that I sold a Nikon F with meterless prism, a Voigtlander Bessa II with Color Skopar lens, and a Voigtlander Vito (kind of the 35mm echo of the Bessa II). To go with the Nikon, I had lenses in my two favorite focal lengths: An 85mm f1.8 (pre-AI) and a 28mm f2.8 AI.

I had a well developed Minolta 35mm MF SLR system and I reasoned that I really didn't have a practical use for the Nikon F and lenses. I admired them a lot and used them little.

The Bessa II produced amazing 6x9 slides, but the viewfinder was so small and squinty that it was all but unusable for an eyeglass wearer.

The stereo had gone out in my 1990 Accord and I wanted to replace it, so I sold these cameras at a camera swap. That car and stereo are now long gone, as are the cameras. I had no practical reason to keep them, but I would like to have them still.

Matrix 998 Ducati. Limited edition, absolutely pristine, production superbike, and a blast to ride. In my thirty plus years of riding I have always worked on my own bikes. The Duck needed special tools/gauges to adjust the timing belts, something that had to be done bi-annually. Ducati refused to sell the tools or gauges, so after finding another source for the tools, I tracked down the manufacturer in Germany who made the special gauges. After months of back and forth, I still couldn't get them to sell me a set. Finally gave up (because I wasn't willing to pay Ducati $1000 plus dollars to do the service) and sold the bike. Two months later, the company in Germany finally agreed to sell me the gauges. But it was too late to get the 998 back.

Only bike I ever owned that I regretted selling.

A mint silver summilux 50 v2. I sold it to get a lux 50 asph...now i hope i can make some masterpieces with my lux asph to make me forget the pain.
 
The only item I regret having sold is a Tokina 28-70/f2.6-f2.8 lens for Nikon F-Mount. I cleaned up my lens park and the performance on digital was not convincing, which is why I sold it.

Meanwhile, I do a lot of photography on film again and sometimes think, it would make a nice fit again. I do not buy it again because I mainly use fixed focal length lenses meanwhile.

OTOH, I am often very happy, that I finally never sold my F100, although I thought about it several times.

My Zeiss Contina camera broke, and I sold it for $20 or so. I should have kept it as my late father gave it to me many years ago.
 
I have no regrets about anything I sold, but I really, really, regret failing to buy a Rolleiflex E 2.8 in what appeared to be perfect condition, with lots of accessories, about ten years ago offered at US$400....
 
I wish I'd never sold my Leica M5.

On the other hand however, if I hadn't I'd never have bought the M2 (or M6 for that matter), both of which I love and have been instrumental in taking many favorite pictures of mine.
