Looking at this patent, makes me wonder if the sd family may end up being a ff foveon design that is a blend of the Quattro plus this patent about highlight photo site, similar to their old SR design. But also maybe more than current 20+5+5 design in terms of photo cell sites on the sensor, which is why I am thinking FF to keep noise issue down.

Btw.. I am perfectly happy w/ apsc sensor size that the sd1m already offers.. Right now I have a mix of lenses for it that are both apsc and ff designs.. Just thinking in terms of how they used the old sr style tech where half of their photo cell sites were normal vs other.. So would they keep it at current design or up the cell density to prevent any wired jagged look when the other sites are disabled.

You know, Gary, I think the most plausible direction for Sigma's future is going to be a FF DSLR line paired with a CSC line.

Sigma already have a compelling line of FF lenses in SA mount. Perhaps a little lacking at the very wide end, but that could be taken care of. Sensor-wise, there has been plenty of comment/speculation that the new Quattro design is a feasible platform for going FF.

The current APS-C DSLR line seems to me to be the one whose future is most questionable.

The silence surrounding Sigma's CSC plans is remarkable, especially following those supposedly credible rumors at the end of last year about a CSC project from Sigma.

The big question is what sensor size Sigma would use for CSC and what lenses?

Considering that Sigma have already started moving the DPMs out at big discounts because of the Quattro it's significant that the SD1M price remains unchanged. No successor to the current DSLR in the immediate future methinks.

the SD1M price remains unchanged.

Big discounts here in Europe.

You can get the body bundled with the 17-50/2.8 for less than the price of the body alone at C.R. Kennedy from Amazon Germany.

The one I just received today was even cheaper than that.
