Hi all,
A good piece on the Lens Blog of the NY Times ten days ago or so concerned photography by Ai Wei Wei taken in NYC in the 1970s. Some of them are going on display. There are a dozen or so here.

I'm interested in opinions about the camera he's using. Image 12 in the slide show is a self portrait in a mirror seen on the street.

My two best guesses are Contax S2 or Olympus OM 1.

What do you folks think?

Not that it really matters what he used...

But contax s2's weren't around them.
The prism isn't pointy enough for the OM series.

It could be anything like a Pentax, Canon, Topcon or Praktica and the list goes on. All these SLR's look more or less the same.
Most likely the prism looks sort of like a Minolta SrTxxx or perhaps a Yashica FR.

yep, Pentax maybe ...

I made a mistake by the way: he was in NYC in the 1980s and into early 90s. So the ME Super makes sense. No way it's an SRT -- it's a much smaller camera than an SRT. The OM 1 is small and the ME Super even slightly smaller.
