I feel ziess is just making royalties off their name since cosina is the one making the stuff.
I think it is more hopeful to see a Cosina DRF...
Well, Zeiss is handling the marketing & is the one providing the warranty as well as handling some of the service. They're also receiving return on investment for their part of the R&D. There's also the fact that they do make a couple of the lenses themselves. So, they're doing a little more than sitting back & collecting royalty checks.

I know nothing about the business side of the camera/lens industry, so I'm just asking this question out of ignorance & hoping for enlightenment.
If CZ partnered with with someone like Sony for the digital components, wouldn't the R&D costs be spread across many more units which would be using the same sensor & electronics on non-RF bodies? Wouldn't that in turn drive down the cost of a DRF to the consumer?
