ideal Bessa R4

How about a small refrig so you can keep a beer cold while shooting?

My om-2 won't work witn a dead battery- but so what, just bring spare batteries, tape them to a film can or something.. So much obsession about batteries.. like a mechanical shutter escapement is an advantage!? You gotta carry film right? Tape a pair of batts inside the case or on the outside of a film can..
I agree, Cosina should consult Maitani on how to make a new bessa that does not look like a Zorki.
unless the battery is NOT the problem and you are on the beginning of a once in a lifetime trip, THEN it is nice to still be able to take pictures. been there done that and it was not pleaant.....😱

How about a connection between the camera and viewfinders that displays with LEDs the exposure info. I guess it would just need two contacts. Off, high, low, and correct exposure.

Selectable viewfinder magnification, or at least maybe easy to swap viewfinder units? And De-Zorki-fy the looks with a longer EBL.

I'm more excited to see used R3a for prices where I can pick one up easily.

O yes, and also a full frame sensor.

If anyone would come out with a B&W only extended dynamic range sensor, it would be Mr. K.

in my wildest dreams.

who the hell needs auto-exposure anyway?
I certainly do. I still don't get similarly quick shooting with my Bessa R as with my Canonet. Now if anyone wants to tell me that wimps and posers should leave the hall, go ahead, but I like AE and consider it useful.

I can remember a poll in a camera mag. about 20 years ago where the question was asked "What feature in a 35mm camera would you like to have that is not yet available". The almost universal answer was interchangeable backs. So to the above list on the R4m add interchangeable backs.

That kind of poll is very misleading. People may say they want this, but when it's available they still don't buy it, and the engineering effort is wasted.

There have been 35mm cameras with interchangeable backs, but none has ever taken off (see e.g. Contarex, Rollei 3003).

Of course Phillip you are right and my comment was said almost in jest. No one realistically would want interchangeable backs on a small 35 rangefinder. It would almost defeat the purpose of a small light camera. And then that is why we buy second and third bodies. On the RM4 a spot metering button like that on the olympus SP would be nice as would the FM3a hybrid shutter

the only interchangable back i would want would be a digital back, for a 35mm rangefinder. as for another new bessa, i would like it to be smaller.

OK, Poser, LEAVE! Just kidding, of course. I enjoy auto exposure cameras, including the RFs that have it; the gear listed in my sig have quite a few auto-capable examples. But to make photos I don't really need it.

Good ideas Frank et al. Bright framelines 28 to 90 would be nice, and a longer RF base. Don't know what that would do to the overall dimensions of the camera though.

Anyone remember last year's rumours about a CL-styled Bessa? I still think a CL sized Bessa would be sweet.

In fact, the digital interchangeable backs idea is not bad. If Leica can make digital module for their R cameras, why not have a digital module for Bessa R__'s ?

Other than that, I miss only longer RF base length...

Remember that with so many new features, the price would go steeply up.
