unless the battery is NOT the problem and you are on the beginning of a once in a lifetime trip, THEN it is nice to still be able to take pictures. been there done that and it was not pleaant.....😱clintock said:My om-2 won't work witn a dead battery- but so what, just bring spare batteries, tape them to a film can or something.. So much obsession about batteries.. like a mechanical shutter escapement is an advantage!? You gotta carry film right? Tape a pair of batts inside the case or on the outside of a film can..
I agree, Cosina should consult Maitani on how to make a new bessa that does not look like a Zorki.
I certainly do. I still don't get similarly quick shooting with my Bessa R as with my Canonet. Now if anyone wants to tell me that wimps and posers should leave the hall, go ahead, but I like AE and consider it useful.who the hell needs auto-exposure anyway?
That kind of poll is very misleading. People may say they want this, but when it's available they still don't buy it, and the engineering effort is wasted.I can remember a poll in a camera mag. about 20 years ago where the question was asked "What feature in a 35mm camera would you like to have that is not yet available". The almost universal answer was interchangeable backs.

There have been 35mm cameras with interchangeable backs, but none has ever taken off (see e.g. Contarex, Rollei 3003).

Why not go for the diesel option…….sort of the MP of the auto worldJon Claremont said:I was about to order a new Ferrari and then found out it needed a battery...
OK, Poser, LEAVE! Just kidding, of course. I enjoy auto exposure cameras, including the RFs that have it; the gear listed in my sig have quite a few auto-capable examples. But to make photos I don't really need it.rxmd said:I certainly do. I still don't get similarly quick shooting with my Bessa R as with my Canonet. I said that once and got jeered at. Perhaps Cosina makes the body, Epson does the digital stuff. Outsourcing blurs the lines a lot.FrankS said:Isn't that the RD1?
