So, while browsing through some junk on an auction site I came across this pic.

96.jpg

They accurately identified all of the cams except for the one older evil 35mm slr in the bottom middle-ish of the pic. (not the two nikon n8008's or whatever they are)

Can anyone tell what it is?

Thanks.

To be precise, it's an AE-1 Program, the second-generation AE-1. It looks like it has the standard-issue FD 50mm f/1.8 lens on it. A solid, honest camera.

Don't know about the AE-1 in question. I had an A-1. It was a bit too complex for my liking now, but in the 80's it was da bomb.

What really rocked about Canon 1980's slrs (until 1985...) were the selection of FD lenses. Canon grew in popularity as Nikon began to 'feel their oats' and let the market slip away, and the latest generation of lenses REALLY had some mojo going for it! If you are into lenses with a unique signature, don't pass on an FD camera lightly.

A Canon alright, great cameras.... lenses can be found for next-to-nothing since they introduced the EOS mount

The A-1 with the MA motor drive was amazing. Fast, fast, fast! I think the AE-1 Program was the best of the A series, though. You have to deal with the squeal, though, because it will only get worse and eventually cause the camera to malfunction.

Definitely an AE-1 Program with a missing right hand grip. The original AE-1 prism housing is a different shape.

The main reason I'm going to opt away from it is because I already have plenty of older minolta slr gear at the moment to keep me satisfied...I don't really need to get into a whole different slr 'system'. I was hoping it was a konica, as I have an autoreflex tc that could use a companion. :p

Thanks for the input, all!
