If money was not an issue...

No, not at all.

Sorry, i was referring to the original meaning of that little world. I realize that nowadays it has a bit less strong of meaning.

Main Entry: fan
Function: noun
Etymology: probably short for fanatic
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator
2 : an ardent admirer or enthusiast (as of a celebrity or a pursuit) <science-fiction fans>

Well if it truly is a "money was not an issue..." situation...

...then I would definitely buy a Leica, make that 10, M7's all with 28mm Summicrons on them to give to my crew of 10 "Solid Gold Dancers" that I would have in the back of my shiny black station wagon version HUMVEE with illegally black tinted windows. Now I'd drive this monster around the inner city streets of Sydney during peak hour and as a gift to those poor commuters stuck in the traffic at every odd set of traffic lights I was stooped at I'd flick a green "GO/JUMP" light at which point the "Solid Gold Dancers" would jump from the the rear of the HUMVEE to the sounds of some classic 80's hit (Whip it? Pump up the volume? Funkytown?Axl F?) and dance amonst the parked traffic....

AKALAI's "Solid Gold Dancers" could either take pics before their dance routine or after...preferably both so they could collect pics snapped of both irate, shocked and hopefully then happy commuters stuck behind their steering wheels or perhaps even joining in on the dancing before the music stops and the the girls all jump back in the HUMVEE and we drive off as the lights change leaving those who have witnessed the above scene to wonder what the hell just happened....and hopefully making their day a little more interesting!

Ofcourse there would be a resulting coffee table book from this project...to which I would invite you all to the launch and at which I would have set up private photo booths for everyone to have a self portrait taken with their cameras...which ofcourse would result in yet another book and party. These are the kind of photo projects I'd love to be doing...

Mmm I think I would be having much more FUN if money wasn't an issue! :D

One day you'll have to tell me which drugs you take..... :)

Interesting scenery, indeed.

HI

In a way, I'm lucky not to ever have the chance to use a Leica. I then look at my "cheap" Bessa R thinking it's a so sexy camera. I'm not sure a Leica will change anything for me.

What would really change something would be a RD-1 as I'm still so amazed by the price of it comparing to D-SLR. I should also e tempted by a panoramic camera such as XPAN or Noblex.

I fear this price will never decrease as competition is nearly not existing.

Next "affordable" step might be a better scanner. I realized it was stupid buying many cheap things instead of one good value device. I bough an old and cheap NIKON Coolscan LS-10 on ebay but scans are not better than my flatbet : too cheap, too old !

the choice among modern rangefinders is very small : CV and Leica.

For Henry Scherer I would buy a 57 foot Bertram powered by a couple of C-32 Cats; assuming of course that he enjoys fishing;).

I would get a caddy to carry my photobag :D , and then travel around world. Maybe I would also buy me a mint condition 21mm 3,4 Super Angulon to my Leica and a Fuji 617.
