If not leica which RF that u perfer to

What jlw said, although his comments apply to the Canon P too. The 7 and P are solid cameras, built like tanks. My P (recently CLA'd) is also very, very quiet. I get the impression from recent and archived threads that they received more attention from RFF'ers in the past than they do at present. Still, given the availability of good Canon glass and CV lenses in LTM, I wonder whether the substantial cost differential with Leica is, in the end, worth it. I, too, will probably get flamed for saying that...

After nearly 40 years of leica shooting I'm pretty comfortable with them and find them as much a part of me as my hands but if i were starting over today with the knowledge and choices available i would probably go with the ZI. It's simply because the RF / VF is so exceptional and yes even better in my opinion than any of the M Leica VF / RF's. The camera weight is less due to magnesium rather than brass and the AE featuere is dead on. Don't get me wrong i still Love and shoot almost daily with my M's. I have 6 M's and a ZI and find myself gravitating to the ZI when fast focus and accuracy under difficult conditions is a must. My second choice would either be one of the Bessas and lastly the new release Nikon SP and S3-2000. I have only handled the Bessa for a short time but was very impressed overall and feel it would serve me well for my work. I do own a Nikon S3-2000 and love it but hate the darn focusing wheel and miss the internal meter. Realistically I could do the same thing with any of the current cameras and feel comfortable with it after a day or two of shooting.

Had a Canonet GIII 17 - until it was stolen. 😡 Then a Rollei 35 RF. 🙂 Never really wanted a Leica. When the Zeiss Ikon came out, I had to have one. I've never looked back. 😎

Got a G2, R3a, a ZI, Hexar RF, and an MP. All are highly functional, well made, prescision machines.

The MP, without a doubt is the highest quality. It drips quality. Very athletic- no nonesense-looking camera.

The Hexar RF is the sexiest of the bunch. A very sleek rig. Tie with:

ZI--sits somewhere between the MP and Hexar RF--not quite as pretty as the Hexar, not quite as high quality as the MP--Very nice indeed, no wanker here.

The G2 got me hooked over 10 years ago. Though not a M mount, it's a fine RF hybred, very stealthy in black. Glass is top notch too.

And the R3's the value leader. It's the camera I grab when I'm wandering the docks late at night...Or holding the camera out of the sunroof while driving.

--I do not advocate this last method of 'street shooting'😉
