I have four Leica M cameras, one for each lens I own up to 50mm. Unfortunately I bought another 35mm lens. Now I’m short one Leica M body.

This issue can be reduced to a simple mathematical equation. The number of cameras one needs is always n +1, where n is the number of cameras one currently owns.
It is therefore mathematically impossible to own too many cameras.

If someone said I have too many cameras, I'd wholeheartedly agree.. I could really trim down the amount of gear I have, but then again, everything has its purpose. Besides, as soon as I've let go of something, something else pops up..
Worst thing is if you have pieces of equipment that prevent you from making a clean break with a system. If the Nikon speedlights/CLS wouldn't be as good as they are, I could have ditched the Nikons. If my M lenses weren't as nice as they are, I could have ditched the Leica. Then there's the 18-105PZ that renders like magic and stops me from ditching the Sony. End result is a mismash of three systems that would drive anyone crazy..

I own a very small collection of digital toy cameras.
Other than that, I own five cameras that I use on a regular basis. All of them are digital and a couple of them are 15+ years old. The newest camera I own is a Lumix GX9 which I believe was introduced in 2018.

Four Leicas, two HB's, a Sony A7M, a Pentax Q S1 and a Pixii. I am like a sculptor looking for the "correct" chisel;. There isn't one but he winds up with some nice chisels. Lenses, aggghhh. But some very, very nice ones. Same as chisels. The upside is that it is better than putting it up my nose. And like the famous blind hog, I do find a root now and again.
Pick of the litter? X2D II + XCD 55V, hands down. The 35 - 100 zoom is still backordered. Cost way more than I should have spent. But I beat the dreaded fear that on my death bed I'd be saying, "I wish to hell I had bought that camera."

People occasionally ask me how many cameras I have and I honestly don’t know but I also tell them if one knows how many they have they definitely don’t have enough

When asked how many cameras I have, I always answer, "Just this one old, cheap one," so they don't get the idea of breaking into my house.
Then I ask them why I would need more than one camera; I can only hold one at a time.
That settles it.

I have been fortunate in life and had the opportunity to use a lot of different cameras. I have bought, sold and fixed a lot of them over the years. My memory isn't what it used to be but at one time I had at least nine Barnack Leicas of various versions and at least that many Agfa Isolettes that all worked. I have no more Barnacks and only one Isolette left.
It has taken me awhile to clear things out but I am still not down to nine cameras. Hell I have more than five cameras that have film in them right now. I may have it down to only nine left that need some sort of repair work. What can I say? I enjoy cameras.
Besides, Yoda is the product of someone else's imagination. Certainly not mine. But if I ran into him downtown I would certainly take his picture. 😀

Just prior to marriage I had but one camera, a Nikon FM2n and a couple lenses.
I remember that was a busy time for me; I had little free time for photography.
My stepfather suggested I sell my camera - since I hadn't used it in months... 😵
